*Important removal info... This replacement gear shifter works great. The fit and feel are good. It's far better than the one that was on the car that had all the brown plastic trim falling off. There's a tiny rough spot on the front on the edge of the brown plastic but I think it's just from molding and it will wear smooth in no time. *Removal information... 1.First careful pry up the metallic looking bezel with the shifter boot. 2. Lift it up over the knob to expose a small zip tie that hold the boot to the knob. (There is an additional plastic layer under the bezel that removing it can make it easier. Push it forward until the tabs on the rear are visible and lift.) 3. Cut the zip tie and pull the boot off the shift knob. 4. This is the tough part. Remove the silver plastic on the bottom of the shifter where the zip tie was around. Break, cut or use whatever force needed to remove that silver plastic ring part on the shifter knob. 5. Under the plastic is a metal retaining clip. It looks like a I thin wire but it's stiff spring metal. Pull the retaining wire out forwards using a flat screwdriver, knife tip or needle nose pliers. 6. Pull up. The knob should lift off with ease. 7. Place the new knob on the shaft and push down. 8. Reassemble. Are you're done. This took me about 15 minutes with a 2 inch pocket knife and shop scissors. I was impatient and I didn't want to wait until I had my proper tools.
