To me, its the perfect thickness, very well made. It also has the little black dots on the reverse side to help from sliding. I have brand new hardwood floors and I did not want to buy something that was "too sticky" on the side that will be resting on the floor - this pad is perfect! Also, I was impressed with the shipping. I ordered a 9X12 pad, and it came folded in a a large plastic bag in a large flat cardboard box - not overly folded and not too creased. This is an excellent pad that I have bought and cut up to accommodate various sizes. I have even put two scraps together by duct taping them on top and that worked fine. Because my floors are new and rather slick, rugs still tend to slowly shift about with foot traffic, but they do not slip or slide about. I have to re-adjust them slightly but I have purchased several other types based on the height I needed, and this is comparable to the other thick pads with solid non-stick backs.
