As soon as I finished the first book, I eagerly dove into the second book in the series because I wanted to keep reading. I usually don't read the next book in the series right away since I like to prolong my enjoyment but I couldn't resist with this book! A Dog's Journey is the second book in the A Dog's Purpose series and it continues right where A Dog's Purpose leaves off. I wouldn't say A Dog's Purpose ends in a cliffhanger necessarily but I could tell there was more to the story. A Dog's Journey starts out with a dog named Buddy and we see how his spirit appears in a few other dogs. Each dog is unique in his or her own way but the dog continues to build on his or her experiences from past lives to become the wonderful, lovable dog appearing in each life. Some of the same people from A Dog's Purpose are present in this book as well and this book teaches animal lovers of all kinds how much our animals love us and take care of us, just like we do for them. I loved A Dog's Journey just as much as A Dog's Purpose! It carries the same style of storytelling where the dog is the first-person narrator and it's fun to see how a dog describes the lives of humans. We don't own a dog but we have a cat and I whole-heartedly agree with the dog's views on cats and their attitudes! It's comical at times, sad here and there, but overall, full of love. I had two dogs when I was younger and these books help remind me of the time I got to spend with them. A Dog's Journey was very enjoyable and, if you liked A Dog's Purpose, I definitely recommend reading this one as well. You'll want to read them in order to get the most out of the books so start with A Dog's Purpose. I highly recommend this series! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Perfect Sequel to "A Dog's Purpose" *by S***6 on June 9, 2012* I enjoyed "A Dog's Purpose" so much that when I saw that the sequel was coming out, I knew I had to get an advance copy! As someone who has lived with dogs for the past 25 years or so (right now I've been without a dog since my last Lab passed away in 2010) I knew that a good "dog story" would fill the bill. (Until I again have a "canine baby".)How surprised I was to find that this book (as told in the voice of a an amazing and observant dog!) was able to really tap into the "human condition". Of course, the "human characters" are well-developed enough such that I could picture them vividly in my head! (I was even able to imagine who I'd "cast" in the various parts, should the book be made into a movie.) I must warn anyone who is remotely interested in this book (and I dare anyone to resist it!) that you might find yourself sniffling, or if you're like me, possibly having your eyes well up on a train, bus, or plane, as the story is both vivid and heartfelt. You'll want to go and hug any dog in sight after reading this book! You can never tell by just looking at a dog just how many gifts he/she has to give to humanity! I felt more "human" by giving myself over to this narrative! I think any reader would.
