how do you brew one cup without using a pod?

The included scooper has the amounts needed for different size cups and pitchers. You just put the coffee in the filter and set it to make 1 cup of whatever size.

Does “refreshed” mean broken?

Refreshed? Do you mean refurbished? I have found no issues with my refurbished Ninja.

Can you make tea with tea bags?

You can make hot water to steep your bags in. You probably would make weak tea running it through any other way.

I had to buy a 3-prong reusable K-cup but it sprays water and grounds. It doesn't do that for the single use K-Cups. Anyone else have this problem?

I used a couple brands before finding one that worked right with my machine. One reusable would leave most of the coffee in the kcup and I would end up with ground and extremely week coffee. I purchased a stainless steel ones and it has worked fine since.
