Yes it can work Lewis fron Unbox Therapy on YouTube tried it with a Windows 7 Pro and the airbar had the drivers to work on Windows 7 Pro. So i guess that it can work on the Windows 7...

Does it support multi-finger gestures like pinch to zoom?

Yes, I have 2 notebooks. A high end Dell and lower end Toshiba. The pinch to zoom works fine on both but better and faster on the Dell. I'm guessing that's because of a faster processor. I just bought one to make sure it worked well before committing to 2 of them. I'm going to buy a second one soon.

Does this work on linux?

Sami isn't right. While Chrome OS is Linux based, it is as different from a Linux distro like Ubuntu as Fedora would be, meaning that even if it installable on Chrome OS, it wouldn't work on linux without some porting.

Can i close my laptop screen with this attached?

No, you can't. But it will make a bip sound if you put your hand over the top of the screen to close the laptop, to remind you that it is still there.
