Used for a wooden stove . I temp guage on 5in pipe that serves as stove top. Inside each pipe is a peice if steel shaped like a disc and sized to fit inside pipe that can be open and closed to control temperature. The temp guages are accurate . Quality product for great price.

I love these. I installed both of them into my Weber Kettle grill lid...one on each side so I can tell the temperature of each side of the grill about 2 inches above the grate. I tested the accuracy by dipping them in boiling water, and they read right around 212 F...and both were at the same needle position. No issues with needing to "calibrate" it by rotating dial face etc. Only thing to note on installation: My weber kettle lid was too thin for the nut to fully clamp the thermometer in place. I ran out of threads before the washer and thermometer were fully tightened. No worries, I found a couple thick washers to use as a spacer so they could be tightened up. The thermometer was very responsive when grilling, and I FINALLY know what temperature zone I am cooking in! UPDATE 09/02/2015: I ordered another set of these thermometers since I upsized my grill and needed some more thermometers. A few changes from the photos: They now use a giant cheap stamped wing nut on the back side (not a big deal) and the dial trim was slightly different. First thing I noticed was that right out of the box, each thermometer had a different needle position. Confirmed with boiling water (212 F) and a known accurate digital thermometer: One was 195 F, one was 180 F, digital thermometer read 210 F. Unacceptable, even for a CHEAP thermometer. I am returning the 2nd set and getting replacements. I am hoping I can get a set that works as good as the first set I got a year ago. Update: The replacement thermometers were more like the first set I received. They had a high quality nut and washer. I tested them in boiling water, and they were within 5 degrees of 212 F. Still a hassle to return them and get another good set, but I am happy with them. Amazon does a great job making the return process painless...but I am still docking the product a star for the inconsistency. From their very own product description: "cheap replacement thermometer that may work on a grill -- no warranty on product as direct import" I am docking the product 1 star for the inaccurate temperatures and the cheap wing nut. If the 2nd set is also inaccurate, I am docking several stars and will be moving on to another product.

Perfect fit for our new smoker! The original one was broken at installation. This was our replacement and has held up to a years of smoking. The temperature is accurate and we like the color coded section to quickly tell the heat area.

These temperature gauges feel and look high quality and I easily installed them on my offset smoker. Looking forward to see how durable and accurate they are under real world smoking.

So I can't say much for the colored temp zones...I don't pay attention to that. But it is extremely accurate. Tested it along side of my probe thermometer and it's dead on. I replaced the one that came with my smoker because it got condensation inside of it because I failed to cover it once it cooled and it drizzled sometime through the night. Very happy with my purchase, fit perfectly and couldn't find one in a store for this price. Good purchase.

works great as a replacement thermometer in my BBQ. It has a slightly smaller outside diameter on the dial than my original but the color markings make it easier to read.
