If quick pins fail, is it possible and how to remove the quick pins to replace with regular pins?

It is quite easy to remove the "quick pin" and replace it with regular pins. Just used small nose pliers to pull it out

How long is the short strap and the long strap on a 18mm band?

Mine is the 20mm strap and the short piece is 3 inches not including the buckle and the long piece is 5 inches.

does this come with the tool to remove your old band ?

No, mine did not. Their NATO straps come with tools and extra spring bars though.
