Good start for my sister's GSD/German Shepherd! (updated 3/30/19)
EDIT 3/30/19 I've had this device for less than a year now, until the buttons stopped responding. I immediately contacted Petrainer's customer support, however, and even though I had totally forgotten to register my first ecollar with the warranty, the customer service agent was very nice and immediately sent out a new collar! This one works great. I'm still sticking with giving the product five stars -- not only because of customer service, but also their prompt responses to my email, and the fact that I really do like this product. I hope this one continues working for a long while, because the first one helped with training not only my sister's GSD, but my own dog(s) and family members' dog(s), too. It's been a life-saver. I've gotten to the point with my own dog where I only have to use the beep, then vibrate sparingly, and hardly ever the shock; the very few times I had to use the shock, I've never had to go above 30 on the levels, despite the collar going to about 99, if I remember correctly. Awesome product and customer service! OLD REVIEW: My sister's new GSD ("given" by a friend who was moving...) has been a pain in the tail. I've always had GSDs (my service dog is one, and the one before her, who recently passed away, was one), but since I'm disabled, I struggle to help my sister. Then I saw this was on sale the other day, during the Amazon Prime deal. I jumped at the chance and did tons of research so that I can better assist her. This review will seem a little too quick, since the collar literally only just arrived today, but we took her dog outside to check things out. Before we did that, we read the instructions carefully, and tested the lowest level, then the highest on ourselves. We had it on our hands and throats multiple times. None of it hurt. It gave a funny feeling/tingle, but it certainly didn't hurt, which was what we were worried about. The dog is crazy, but I don't want to hurt him! When outside, we played ball, tired her dog out, etc. Now, one issue he has is with coming up the stairs. He practically runs the person who opens the door and can very nearly knock them down the stairs, of which we have 6 of them, so that's dangerous, especially for me, since any injuries are much worse due to my disability. We gave the command for him to stand at the bottom. He ignored, so we buzzed. We had to do this a few times to find his level and just kept going up by 2 or 3s. Eventually, we saw that he reacted at 16, which was surprisingly low, especially if you knew his dog's personality. He stayed at the bottom! When he tried to put his front paws up, we gave the "Down" command, and he didn't listen, so we buzzed. He immediately moved away. He moved forward again, but this time, you could see the wheels in his head turning. I stepped inside, and yet he stayed at the bottom of the stairs, waiting! My sister came in after me. We gave the command to come inside. Another issue he has is he still rushes past you, knocking you over at the second door to the laundry room. We gave the wait command when he came up the stairs/once he was indoors and past the first door. He tried to charge past us, and we buzzed, and he stopped at the closed door. This time, he ignored it after a minute and didn't back away when we told him, so we had to go up to 20, and that got his attention. We tried again and again, and it does take practice, but eventually, you get into the groove of it. Now my sister and I are in the living room with a tired dog at our feet, sleeping. Admittedly, the tired part probably comes from us playing fetch outside. We also initially got the collar because he charges the fence and gets too excited when the dogs next door are over there/by the shared fence, but they were inside today, so we'll have to try again this afternoon or in the morning. I just need to say that even just that little bit at the door is amazing, because this is a very young dog -- he's only 14 months, so he has a while to go before he's fully grown, and we need every bit of training to sink in for him as we can get! Needless to say, I recommend this collar. The collar itself is very slim and looks easy to deal with. I had to cut the end of it because it was so long, but that's an easy fix, since I left enough that when he grows a bit, I can extend it. It's very flat, too, so he's laying down really comfortably on it. I have it on his throat in the center, so he can lay either way and not worry about it digging into his skin. I know the usual signs of his discomfort, and he's certainly doing fine/not uncomfortable at all. Any other details were minor in the grand scheme, but it all seems to be on the up and up! Do keep in mind that it's only been about a day. Now that I have this, I can help my sister more, and I'll be keeping a close eye out on the battery life (we took it off when we got in the house to recharge it, just in case we need it later for our walk this evening) and how it holds up.

Worked great! For 9 days...
I would absolutely love to rate this 5 stars, everything you needed to train your dog came in this kit, to include the usb dual charger to charge both control and collar at the same time. I was not crazy about the actual collar itself but it served the intended purpose. The control was easy to use, fairly intuitive as far as figuring out how to effectively utilize the control unit, beep, then buzz, then shock with the ability to modify the levels of the buzz and shock on the side of the unit and even a light at the top that was at least effective enough to find your way in the dark. We charged it day one, on the 5th of Dec 2018 and immediately started training. After one day of relatively light use I had to charge it again. It did not last the specified time in the description, but I wasn’t getting overly worked up over that since it did have a pretty significant impact on training my dog, an 80 pound 7 month old Great Pyrenees Saint Bernard mix, who has been fairly stubborn. After one week, the beep is typically enough to get him to stop doing the things he was doing that we did not like, like jumping on people, running when we took him out and so on from my teenage girls. The control unit died on day 8. It has not been mishandled or dropped, has not been near water even though it’s waterproof and has spent more time on the charger than on my dog. I really wanted to give this a 5 star rating, I really liked it when it was working but the numerous quality issues prevent me from doing that. The unit is now in the mail for a refund, not an exchange based solely on the quality issues we had with it.

Nice product. This is our second one.
Great collar. We bought this same one, twice! The first one lasted about 3 years before it finally stopped turning on. The price point is fair, so we just bought another one. WE DO NOT USE THE ELECTRIC SHOCK. So I can't say whether it works well or not. Basically I tried it on my forearm and it zapped the crap out of me so I said "No way I'm doing that to my dog". At any rate. We've gotten it wet, not submerged, but "rain" wet, and ultimately the old one finally died. It would turn on but wouldn't stay on for more than a second. It was probably a bad battery, but it was getting pretty worn, so we bought a new one anyway. WHY 4 STARS? It's bulky... With the technology out today, couldn't this be made much smaller?

Miraculous difference in a short amount of time!!
I have a 7 yr old golden retriever who is very well trained and simply needed some brushing up in a few areas. He is great off the leash but has been problematic while on leash and has become a chow hound, always begging for people food. I work with K-9 cops who suggested I try using a shock collar of sorts to get him back on track. After browsing on Amazon I came across this collar -- the reviews were stellar and the price unbeatable! I really liked the idea of having the option of a beep, vibrate, or shock so I didn't have to over due it. Upon receiving it in the mail, I put the collar on my pup to get him used to it, didn't even turn it on, and immediately noticed an improvement in his behavior and responsiveness to commands ( I did use a shock collar when he was a young puppy...maybe he remembered?) After charging everything up, I took him on a walk where I was very strict with heeling and not pulling me...using a low vibrate setting only a few times eliminated almost all of the bad behavior. Later that day we had a steak dinner which would normally make him crazy. I was able to put him in a down/stay and he did not beg or get up once. I have continued taking him on similar walks and rarely have to push the button on him--this collar has made a miraculous difference in a short amount of time. I've already recommended it to several friends. I am beyond happy with my purchase and know you will be too!! :)

Kinda sorta
It works kinda sorta . Beeps and vibrates but does not seem to deliver any jolt through my dog's hair to his skin unless I make collar so tight he can't breath .so overall very disappointed.
