Valve on back of head reduces flow to a trickle about .5 gal per minute. It does conserve water and is a well made product. Also has a spray control, but I leave it to my preference and haven't adjusted it further. You should be happy with this product. **Q: Is there a significant reduction in shower pressure as you go down from 2 to 1.25 GPM?** A: The pressure seems fine with the 1.25 gpm head that I purchased. I have not used the 2 gpm head to compare. I expect that the design of the two units (plus the in-between ones) is such that you get the same water jet speed, just more water for the bigger head.
