App controlled timer works really well and saved my plants over several vacations
I've used this timer for our deck planters (7 large hanging planters + 12 large pots) for the last month. I also purchased a drip irrigation kit which includes a 1/2" feeder line and roughly 200 ft of 1/4" hose and dozens of drippers. The hardest part was setting up all the hose and then having to order another 100' of the 1/4 hose because I ran out. This wifi timer was the easiest part of the setup and frankly is the thing that makes it all work. It saves me at least 15 minutes every day watering all the planters and the peace of mind alone is worth the price. We went on vacation for 5 days and i turned on notifications in the app so it let me know when it was running - kept my plants from dying during the heat wave. Set-up: 9/10 - the app took a little getting used to but it makes sense to me now. Each side is treated separately (you can name them) and you can set up as many individual programs you want and say which days you want them to run. Ease of Use: 10/10 - I added a morning program and an evening program that run every day, 5 minutes each. I also turned on app notifications so it tells me when it starts and when it finishes. I can also go in the app and look to see how much water it used - this is peace of mind, I've slowly dialed it in and it now uses around 4.7 gallons vs 10 that I originally used when I did it manually. I check it every couple days - i figure if the tubing popped a leak anywhere I'd see that number shoot up. I don't use this feature a lot but its there - there is a manual button on the unit itself to turn it on. This was invaluable when I was first setting up my drip irrigation system. The app does track water usage even in manual mode which is a cool feature. The button requires a firm push so it'd be really hard to accidentally press it which again is nice peace of mind. Features: 8/10 - I REALLY wish it would self adjust based on weather forecast. There is a moisture sensor you can buy separately and I believe that will get me the feature I want so I'm going to order it and try it out. My work around has been to add a 3rd program mid-day that is turned off. When its over 95 for the day, I just turn click the program to enable it and voila, my plants get the additional water they need. If its raining, there are 3 icons at the bottom of the app under Plan where you can select rain delay for 24, 48, or 72 hours. I've used it and it works well. Overall: 9/10 - I loved this enough to buy the single version for my planters in the front. I've already mapped out a DIY irrigation system for my back lawn and plan to expand my system in the fall. Our plants are bigger than they've ever been and we've received a lot of compliments from our neighbors and friends.

Happy
Excellent product. This is the second unit I have purchased, and each one makes watering my lawn and garden much easier and more reliable with the automatic scheduling system, and also very flexible with the 2 outlets. Would purchase again.

Awesome product
I purchased this device before heading out on vacation to make sure newer plants / trees that were just installed were able to be watered properly while we were gone from residence - total of 3 weeks. The device was easy to set up and program. I was able to test both zones independently prior to leaving and it worked flawlessly. While we were gone, I got notifications as the system turned on and when it was done. I like the fact that it also calculated the gallons / liters used per watering session. The one thing that I don't like is that you cannot use a decimal point in any of the numbers when setting up watering sessions. You get to either pick time or gallons (or liters) used. I have a plant that doesn't take much water and really only needs about 1/2 gallon per week so soil can dry out in between waterings. I had to switch it to liters so that I could get a smaller amount - but still it is using too much water. Other than that, this is a very good alternative to a permanent watering system. I have all my trees in back yard on a drip system that is buried underground - and have hose running to it. Before it was always manually controlled and sometimes would forget it was running and it would run to long - over watering. This device takes the guess work out of it for worry free watering.

Could not get it to connect to either my phone or my WiFi. New version seems to work as advertized.
Tried everything I could find on the Internet, but couldn't get it to connect to anything. Very disappointing. Update 8/19/2024: It turns out that Rainpoint has an updated version of their products. Here's the new version: https://www.amazon.com/RAINPOINT-WiFi-Water-Timer-Garden/dp/B0BRKLZP37/ref=sr_1_33?crid=2R2BBT367MAMU&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.4i9b8QJM9eXVTfLqdTZfxCG3kil0V_P3SkaxeQPS8ftb7k53ggRaIVsrnNee4Cdwi7_h-ArCHRM8XmmHwzIvjxIPKgDLwZH01GCkvSxF8PLa0kCyqh4fbLjUjOYeBN2DDy0LX_gp9TY43Z2Uw2AyxK0R4AkF_5bk6Kp1fJL7s03fwdLJYlFN0dDb1UCrHOJxmInOkBlmTx-JUgPYJaH7DiO4nQBz72c05I8vlBP4KNAUvRTqk7kFkzALCow0s0G1MVDKjVcwBLg9pbRv8VT6-rgZAQckpQvm3BJilpSlUiY.qS6clbhGGbk91OdM-3K3-r_WFWAJS1tRBHWn9r19u6M&dib_tag=se&keywords=Rainpoint&qid=1724064511&sprefix=rainpoint%2Caps%2C198&sr=8-33 The new moisture sensor: https://www.amazon.com/RAINPOINT-Moisture-Temperature-Reliable-Wireless/dp/B0BRKBW7FK/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2HCYUDAMCXTZQ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.yf8m1a6XCksmH8IY4kXFKBkkS8WXtbhofy5kI4kmHlicLZXxy6C8M3G-LYdYRoONVtKAJIepcKWuOeNRz3pfSXfETAoXgB56ow8XopP9Lh-gq3x5n4ESvPTS7Fp67kaJzhLcncC4X9QiUeURGt8xlN0XWFlKJX3yrKxML9dL46liVcoFyvjAfGUy1J25EWy0iuiWhPqOUKJgoEfarworNUHKR2BOMfKxnRjQ44X3vvo2b9KT9DKy2tzokoQXuH8-ctLpF3UDRO_UEorTnpus24lCRqiTKtnifM3U692_O-0.tTUYs52SshuIs0Y5k6xzBnaPK4_51le_okW1U1qxq08&dib_tag=se&keywords=rainpoint+moisture+sensor&qid=1724064634&sprefix=Rainpoint+mois%2Caps%2C144&sr=8-3 The only difference I can find in the descriptions and graphics on Amazon, and indeed in the materials shipped with their products, is the color, the fact that the old controller has a brass input connector instead of plastic one on the new version, and the fact that the new version works with the Homgar app. The Homgar app is an open source project housed on GitHub, and appears to be inactive – which is a bit of a worry for future functionality when a future iOS upgrade breaks the app. The company's prompt response consisting of sending me the new version of the hub, controller, and temperature/humidity sensor, has compelled me to write this update. I've had the new version of these three components for a few weeks now, and they work as advertised. The Homgar app is reasonably intuitive to use and has many nice features, including graphs of water volume, temperature, and soil moisture content over time. Therefore, I am revising my original one-star rating to four-stars. I would likely raise this rating to a full five star rating, but for a few issues: (1) greater distinction should be made between the old (yellow-colored) version so that customers will know the difference. (2) Why downgrade the brass fixture to plastic? The old version touts the brass input connector, but this has disappeared from the new version. We know that brass is stronger than plastic, so the principal justification for this move must be production cost. I actually don't think this is a big deal because most competitive units use only plastic, and I've had them last for many years and eventually fail for different reasons. (3) As a long-time minor open source contributor, I worry about the viability of the Homgar app in the future. I suggest that the company contribute to this app to ensure its long-term viability, or fork it to customize for their own hardware – if they've not already done so. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the new version, and will try to remember to update this review over time!

Simple and effective Wifi Timer!
So, this timer is great! At the spigot, it’s dead simple. It is programmed through the app. I like this over the other timers where you program at the spigot, since it avoids the kneeling adjacent to the spigot, etc. Much easier to program from the phone. On the manual side of things, there are two buttons, one for each timer. If you hit the button, it’ll turn on for a pre-determined amount of time that is programmed into the app initially. You can go back and change it, but it’ll always hold the last time programmed. If you want to turn it off, hit the button again. Really easy, and way better than the other timers where there is a complicated interface just to get manual control. Once other thing that is nice, is that in addition to hitting the button, you can active the spigot remotely. This is nice if you have your hose set up prior to a vacation, and you want to activate it remotely. You can also see if the spigot is one or off remotely as well which I like. On the automatic watering, it just works. You program it in the app, and then it does its thing. The app can has a rain delay option, which is nice to use if you are away on vacation or something and you know it rained. I do like that I get a notification when it starts and stops. I think the messaging in the notification for the app could be simpler, but once you get used to it, it’s fine. Lastly - I did need to contact customer service to have the original one replaced two years after the initial purchase. The customer service was accommodating and responsive and honored the 5 year warranty. In my opinion, anyone’s products can take a hit due to manufacturing, but it’s all in the response by support, and their customer support was top notch! No issues with the replacement unit.

Reliable & Smart Dual-Zone Watering
I’ve been using the RAINPOINT WiFi Water Timer for my drip irrigation system, and it has been a fantastic upgrade. The build quality is solid, especially the brass inlet, which feels much more durable and leak-proof than plastic alternatives. The standout feature for me is the flexibility in the app; I love that I can choose to water based on specific time durations or by precise water quantity. This level of control, combined with the convenience of managing two separate outlets from my phone, makes it incredibly easy to keep everything healthy without wasting a drop. Highly recommended for anyone looking to simplify their garden maintenance!

UPDATED REVIEW >> cheap model = risky vs. brass fitting model = YES!
---UPDATED REVIEW 5/25/23--- After the awful first experience (original review below) the company sent me a free replacement. This new model has a brass fitting for the water spigot AND the male connection for the water hose has more threads AND they throw in plumbing tape to wrap the threads with. It's nice that the company cares enough about their product and customer service. TL;DR 1. the cheaper plastic fitting model = it does work, but take your own risk on whether it starts leaking 2. the more expensive new model with a brass fitting = buy this, you won't regret it 3. you get great software (i.e. app) with both options 4. The device is BIG, so make sure you check dimensions to have enough clearance at your water spigot ---ORIGINAL REVIEW AUGUST 2022---- The software/app works, but the hardware (i.e. actual device connected to your spigot) disconnected from the spigot and FLOODED OUR LAWN while we were on vacation causing us a) massive lawn water damage and b) hundreds of dollars in water bills. Can't recommend because the physical device is faulty. For context, literally everything I used for this setup is brand new (hose, splitter, this timer), even the spigot from the house is new because we redid all the plumbing less than a year ago. "You probably just didn't tighten those sensors enough -- user error!" >>> FALSE. I connected FOUR of these timers in the same way, to the same brand new splitters and hoses and spigots, and tested all of them for two days before leaving town. None of the splitters were leaking, none of the hoses connected to the timers were leaking, only the timer-to-splitter connections messed up. Also, I had connected new hoses directly to the other outlet of our splitter (not to the timer) and none of these had issues. Tested the timers out for two days before we left for vacation and everything worked fine. Sent it through "the ringer" to make darn sure it would work correctly. Then we left for vacation. Everything seemed to be working well until I got a notification two days in that one of the sensors was "offline". The next day, my neighbor tells me that my whole yard and driveway is covered in water. They investigate and this timer had completely disconnected from the splitter which left the water running straight out of the spigot for over day! There was also another timer in the backyard that had not completely disconnected but had loosened so much that it was spraying/leaking water everywhere.

Water Bill Savings
I previously used digital and manual timers on my spigots. The types I used seemed to break easily, get stuck open, or have clock/timing issues that made them run way too long or indefinitely. I was out setting up my old timers to keep the yard watered while we went on vacation. I found that two of my three old single outlet timers were broken. One had a board issue and the other one failed to shut off completely. So I ordered a pair of these awesome RainPoint dual outlet timers w/hub and had them delivered a day before we left town. Setup was really easy and I had them all setup and ready to go in about 15 minutes. The hub's wifi electrical socket was a nice bonus too. We plugged a lamp into it and turned it on/off randomly in the evenings while we were out town. The quality seems to be good. The timers are sleek and smooth. I liked them so much I bought a third timer. Now I have one on each spigot for a total of 6 zones. My only complaints are: 1) In the app, you can not group all the timers together, you have to individually select the specific timer and make your changes to those two zones. Then you have to back out and select the next timer, etc. 2) I was a bit confused with the push notices from the app at first. When you turn on a zone or one starts at a planned time, the push notice says for example: "Zone 1 [left valve] now working".... But when a valve turns off, the push message says for example: Zone 1 [left valve] has been implemented. The app needs to be updated with proper language. Implemented in English means to start. These wifi timers have worked really well for us for 2 months now. We have saved quite a bit on the water bill over that time as I no longer have to worry about forgetting that a sprinkler is on or having a stuck open timer that waters the yard all night. The max manual run time with these timers is 60 minutes. So no more giant water bills from my forgetfulness or stuck open timers.
