If you have sleep apnea get this.
This neck pillow is the one most often recommended by CPAP users. It is comfortable and prevents you from tucking your chin down. This is a position that often causes positional apnea. Doctors seem to be totally unaware of this and will just keep upping the CPAP pressure, which is ineffective because you can't push air through a kinked windpipe. I wear it for this, and to help keep my mouth shut. Its somewhat less effective for the open mouth than similar products that have a rigid inner support, but this one is much more comfortable and is sufficient for my needs. I carry this when I travel, it does double duty as a sleep pillow on international flights.

Sleep much better
I have a herniated c4/5 disk which has caused much discomfort with arm/hand numbness and neck pain while sleeping. I have tried several pillows and eventually found the best relief without a pillow. This little baby has caused me to enjoy pain free sleep since I received it. Make sure you get the large if you have a neck size of like..15" or more - (like most men). Another thing: The color bleeds like crazy so you can save lots of hassle by just washing the thing right away in hot water. I took it into the shower with me and in five minutes, had most of the excess dye removed. Funny, it didn't look any different at all. Another thing - remember to keep it a bit less than snug if you are going to lie down and sleep with it - the neck veins naturally distend when you lie down and can end up feeling strangled. If you are like me, just having it on a little less than snug will keep you head in a good position all night. Seems to wash well - which is good...because I imagine if it wasn't washed periodically, it would end up smelling like a sock. I'm glad I bought it..for the price it has been an awesome value for me.

I have used for several years and now have four of them.
I now have four of these - one each Black/Black and Jade/Black, and two Granite/Black. I bought my first one several years ago from an in-flight catalog; the other three are recent purchases from Amazon. I have had some neck problems since a traffic accident nearly 20 years ago, which have become worse over the last five years even with fusion of three vertebrae. The Caldera Releaf collar is Not A Medical Device, but they have given me more comfort than any of the medical device foam collars I have had over those years. It is an actual engineered product (not just a block of foam wrapped in scratchy fabric and approved by the regulatory agencies.) The Releaf collar is designed for sleeping primarily while seated or reclining, such as on an airplane flight. (That is why I bought that first one several years ago.) The collar is fairly stiff in the vertical direction, in order to support your head comfortably when sleeping in those positions. I works wonderfully for that purpose. I have found that it also provides comfort during activities such as driving, working at a desk, reading or similar activities. I have found that it is uncomfortable to wear when exercising or laboring (it gets very hot and sweaty) or while lying down (it presses on the side of my neck too much when I sleep on my side.) The hook-and-loop fastener has about five inches (127 mm) of range. Worn correctly, so you can slip two fingers between the collar and your neck, it should not restrict breathing PROVIDED you have the correct size. (For example, I wear a US 18-inch neck size dress shirt and a Medium is too tight for me.) I find this to be very comfortable when used as intended, much more comfortable than the medical device collars. It is also less bulky than the medical devices. I clean these in the normal cold or warm water laundry (no chlorine bleach, and With the hook-and-loop fastener closed!) and air-dry them. I highly recommend them for anyone who needs head support while flying or driving, and for certain other activities.

Great idea!
My first reaction when I saw this in the Skymall catalog on a recent flight was this "Neck Rest" is a great idea. It was just what I have been looking for, relatively compact, easy to put on, hold my head in a comfortable position, fits in my travel bag, what more could I ask for! I ordered as soon as I got home. It was made well and fulfilled all my expectations except one. It was too wide for my neck. It comes in two lengths and one width. It felt like I was being choked and my neck was stretched, it was very uncomfortable . I was very disappointed and had to send it back. If you have a long graceful neck as pictured in the magazine go for it.

Very fine neck brace
Very solid neck brace. It is strong without feeling harsh. It is perfect for giving your neck a break while you sit at the computer. Come to think of it, I'm going to put it on right now!

A Must Have For CPAP Users
Comfortable, well made and helps a lot to minimize jaw drop when you sleep. Helps me with my CPAP a lot.

Caldera neck rest, large
So glad I didn't purchase the smaller size. This would not be large enough for a really big guy/gal. Provided support on airplane and I was able to be comfortable enough to doze without my jaw hanging open or getting a kink in my neck. Also worked well on a long car trip (as passenger). Concerned about other reviews that it would leave black marks on neck, I washed it in cold water & detergent in sink--there was no color bleeding at all. Let it air dry. No color left on neck after use. Easy to flatten and stick into pocket of carry-on.

El mejor artículo para viajar en avión sin lastimar el cuello, no acalora tanto. No ocupa espacio en el equipaje. Se puede guardar en su empaque original para guardarlo.

I have sleep apnea and can't get used to using the mask but was desperate for a good night sleep. Did some searching and decided to try this collar. It's very comfortable and it keeps my chin from falling into my neck and probably keeps my airway open. I put mine away to protect the Velcro when not using. I also use along with a piece of medical tape over my mouth, a wedge pillow under my mattress and a mist vaporizer. It's not a cpap machine but if you're like me and can't use one, then figuring out something, anything for a better sleep is worth the effort. I'm very happy with this product. Don't be afraid to make it snug around your neck, works better that way. If you are breathing easily laying down and it's snug, you are doing it right.

Good firm collar. Does the job required. Very smart appearance too. Not so 'disabled' looking as a white one. Great buy.

Having a 'Tall, 18" Neck', this helps provide superior head/neck support while sleeping than others who claim their product is better. It is a quality item using superior foam, although not quite high-end memory foam found in the more expensive "U" shaped travel pillows. But is still adequate to provide support regardless of the position you may be in while using it. I would recommend this item to those seeking to make such a purchase. Enjoy...
