First and foremost, READ and FOLLOW the instructions!! These are tricky to use, especially the first time, and really especially if you are trying to cut your own hair. Read and follow the instructions! Umm, and also don’t expect a salon quality cut - these don’t replace a trained stylist! But if you can lower your expectations of having a glamorous cut and style, they can keep you from just completely shaving all of your hair off in a hormonal rage. Good product, and a pretty innovative idea.

I am a hairdresser and it was very very hard to use and the the hair kept slidding and I was not able to hold it to cut it. I personally would not ordered it so just save your money. It says I have to choose a rating or I can't submit it so I guess I have to give it one star.

I really love this idea of knowing exactly how long you are cutting your hair! Each size is a length and they are easy to use! Great value for the money! Makes cutting hair easier because they work so well!

Not easy to use. You have to be real careful not to cut your fingers while using these.

Not sure why others are so harsh about being able to use these....you just need to do it right, but it does take some getting used to. However, it's just a "basic length cut" for yourself. Works for getting the length done, but then I still have to have someone else help me straighten the "neck line" in the back, and there's a trick to blending if using different lengths. But with that, my haircut isn't half bad. Not amazing, but good enough for a DIY haircut, which saves money and makes this a valuable purchase.

My roommate, who'd been doing my hair for a couple of years now, moved out and I was looking for a way to get the job done myself. This did the trick! I used the longest one and it was a bit awkward but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. Just make sure you hold the fin the right way and it's pretty easy after that. I will say that using electric clippers to cut was much easier than trying to work with scissors. Other reviews have mentioned to expect a slightly choppy cut, which works fine for my hair style, but I think with patience you could get a pretty clean look.

1 star because the idea is great but the functionality isn't. i wasn't able to hold them as directed so therefore could not use them to cut hair.

Great product! I had been using toilet paper rolls for years, and this is just an easier, better version. If you don’t like it, it’s because you are not using it right. Don’t blame the ruler if you didn’t make the cut right. Also, while I cut my hair, I like to say “here fishy fishy” so that’s fun

Sorry, very difficult to use and I don't recommend this product.

As a shut-in for the next several months, this is handy, as long as you aren't too fussy about a little bit of irregular patches. I like it. It would be even better if a 2nd person could use it on me, as wielding scissors for the back is dangerous!
