Great movie!

This is a truly entertaining movie with a great storyline and amazing special effects. I definitely recommend this as something the whole family can enjoy.

At first glance The Great Wall looks like an action blockbuster dud, and who could blame you. It's got at least one, maybe two well-known actors depending on who you are. I wasn't expecting much and it turned out to be quite an enjoyable film. It's a really Great action / creature feature movie that gets everything done just well enough that I really don't have any complaints whatsoever. Matt Damon is great as usual, playing William who is on a journey for black powder when he and his partner are attacked by an unknown beast. They're taken into a Kingdom that has armies of people who have been preparing for a siege from Tao Tei on the Great Wall of China. Each division of the army wears a different color and has a different function for protecting the wall which is really cool. The movie doesn't repeat any one thing really so all of the reveals and action sequences are fresh and not repetitive. One of the best things about this movie is that it's all just so well done that it's hard not to enjoy. All of the action is spread throughout the movie and each action sequence has something unique to it. In watching the special features, the director comments on how he wanted to change up the big action scenes because the script had them all take place on the wall. Throughout the film, we're taken to different sections of the wall, inside and out. The pacing of the film to me is nearly perfect, even if everything else is average at least. All of your typical characters exist here: the wannabe hero, that wannabe's past in human form, the semi-romantic love interest that changes the ways of the wannabe, the disapproving characters of taking in a stranger, the rogue agent of their captors, all of them. And in every way, the movie does exactly just enough to not make me want to question what's happening and just enjoy the ride. Willem Dafoe is also in the movie albeit for not that much other than to direct the opposition to our hero. The other awesome thing is the creatures and how well they are done. There were a few moments of CGI glory that we expect from a movie like this, that are hard not to see. The monsters however were really cool and well designed, which I suppose is based on actual folklore of the region which makes it even cooler. There were different versions of the monsters that did different things, like sentries and there is a Queen which is what makes a lot of the monster story work. Overall, this is an excellent release in 4K. I'd heard that this was pretty good reference material for your 4K setup and it definitely delivers everything. From the opening sequences you're taken into a detailed landscape, that soon becomes filled with a colorful cast of soldiers and monsters. Special effects dazzle and there's not a moment to be missed when it comes to the action. I particularly liked that the film wasn't all that gory or bloody, even though I really enjoy films that do have that, because I can recommend it to anyone. It's a very well-rounded action/creature film that is missing from today's cinema even if it doesn't exactly live up to being the legend(s) it claims to be. My copy came in perfect condition with no slipcover. Blu-ray copy and digital copy were both included in this release. There are a few good special features on the disc but no director's commentary or anything too lengthy.

Action , Adventure , Beautiful Photography , Fantastic cast , this is Ancient China like you've never seen it before . Being chased across the dessert by bandits , 5 men camp for the night only having to fight off a beast that kills 3 of the 5 men , the two remaining still men being chased come to a dead end , "THE GREAT WALL" this is where all there problems start ! The Chinese having a secret they can't let out , holding these 2 men captive they find out they can never leave The Great Wall unable to leave the men find out they are in the middle of an attack , with no where to turn they learn little by little and piece by piece what the attack is all about and what lies on the other side of "The Great Wall" , there's something out there killing what ever it runs across and they turn to help the Chinese fight it ! THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST FILMS I'VE SEEN IN A WHILE ! IT'S A FANTASTIC MOVIE AND YOU SHOULDN'T MISS IT , YOU WON'T REGRET BUYING THIS !!! 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟's

Surprisingly I find myself periodically watching this movie. Yes, there's violence and not really appropriate for children but it's not just violence for the shock effect. I actually find great one line humor throughout the show and keep watching for the newly discovered special affects in each viewing.

Did you know that the original name for " The Great Wall of China" was " The Ramparts of Magog"? Knowing this I was kind of hoping they would be fighting giants & other nasty Nephalem. Oh well it's still pretty good fun ! The use of color in this movie is genius, I have seen it done by foreign directors but it hasn't been done by mainstream Hollywood since the epic's of the 50's & 60's! If you are a fan of Sword & Sorcery this will make a great addition to your collection! This is a great fantasy escapist film for rainy days or movie night. While I don't know if its suited for young children if your kids are 12 or older its a good movie for the whole family. I love East meets West movies like " The Black Rose" & other than the brilliant use of color the comparison stops there as one was based on Historical events even though it was a fictional story this one is based on Dragon like creatures...but I wasn't there so maybe there is some historical probability in this movie after all. What ever the case it sure is a lot of fun & action packed from beginning to end!!!

It's a great monster action movie. However, I bought this 2 times. The first time, it came without a seal, without the digital code, and the blu ray disc had a scratch. I returned and got a replacement. Well the second one I got had a seal, but still didn't come with the digital code. The discs were fine, except for a tiny slight scratch on the 4k disc (definitely not big enough to affect the disc playback though). Still gonna keep the second one I got, but come on...These shouldn't be issues on something that is "New".

Película de ciencia ficción muy entretenida, con excelentes efectos, excelente sonido e imagen. En 4K para sacarle el mayor provecho al Home theatre y a la pantalla

Só não dou 5 estrelas por não ter legendas em pt/br,mas de resto tudo ok imagens e sons excelentes e embalagem lacrado e ótimo estado
