“I just love having a doorbell!” — said no dog owner ever. After enjoying six months of peace and quiet (our old transformer died), we’re officially back to reality. On the bright side, this transformer worked perfectly and brought our doorbell back to life with no issues. Installation was straightforward, and it’s been working reliably so far. If you’re replacing a dead transformer, this did exactly what it was supposed to do. My dogs may not approve, but I do.

Wired up and door bell works perfectly again.

Easy to install and plenty of power for standard door chime. Doesn't get real hot or make any humming sound. Seems to be well built and ready for the task at hand. One of the best prices I found at the time of purchase.

I got this doorbell transformer because my Nest Doorbell was struggling to keep its internal battery charged and I thought it might be due to the old transformer (1950s vintage?) not putting out enough voltage. (It was 10V 10VA and this one is 16V.) Alas, the higher voltage (about 18V no-load) didn’t help. That’s no fault of this transformer. Doorbell transformers are a careful balancing act: they need to be safe even if something short circuits and not damage the chime. So perhaps that feature also limits how much power the camera can “steal” through the chime’s coil. The mounting on this transformer conveniently fit a standard box knockout which simplified installation.

Works well

I have two transformers in my home because I have a chime on the first and second floor. Even though it’s a Newhouse Hardware transformer, it’s actually a direct replacement for my home’s existing Hammond EM57580. It works perfectly fine if you’re going to keep your doorbell and chime setup. However if you want to replace your doorbell button with a wired video doorbell, I would suggest getting the 16V 30VA (30TR) version.

NOT for UK. This is rated 120v not the 240v that you need for the UK. That certainly wasn't clearly stated on the description when I bought it.

Le compré también la campana Newhouse con las especificaciones técnicas compatibles de electricidad, y con la ayuda de un electricista todo funcionó, se encargó de instalar el transformador dentro del centro de carga. Como tip, el timbre tarda varios minutos en prender la primera vez que reactivas la luz de la casa por primera vez.

works perfect for my chime

Replaced transformer that came with our house (lasted barely over a year), I am expecting and hoping for longer life with this one. It is easy to install but CAUTION must be used as this connects directly to your 120 Volt AC. In my case, it attached to the side of the power panel box which means you have to get into the area where all the breakers are wired. If you are lucky, yours will be in a electrical outlet box but, in any case, you are working with on 120 Volt AC so be careful. Turn off breakers, use rubber gloves (will provide some insulation) and use only one hand if at all possible. When you use 2 hands and you are electrocuted, the current will in all likelihood pass from one hand through your chest to the other. So again, be cautious!
