Better than GE Opal Model ⭐️
Well I’m writing this review as I had to purchase a new ice machine after our First Gen GE Croaked, we ran scheduled cleaning cycles & used RO water only in the machine, but it began getting louder, running slower and finally stopped making ice. After completing all online steps, support line being no help and dissembling the machine, it seems it has an known issue with the interior fan needing a replacement. No one locally will work on the machine. We decided with this brand after good review and being a good replacement to our GE. We are in month 3 of this new machine & I’ve noticed several differences between this & the GE! • NOISE LEVEL : This machine is much quieter when making ice! We hardly hear it in the background of our house! Our GE seemed to always make loud noise when producing ice and especially cleaning. • INTERIOR DESIGN : The ice bucket is inside the lid, being better insulated - keeping the ice longer! The GE would melt within 1 hour in the bin- causing more water consumption & longer running times. Also there are 2 air vents on each side of this machine, keeping air circulating better, the fan is on the backside so I feel that this set up keeps it running more smoothly! • ICE REFILL TIME : This machine puts out the ice! When we will a Stanley we can have a new bucket filled within hour - the GE would take about 2-3! • WATER CONSUMPTION: Because of the design, this machine runs less water in general compared the the GE. ice stays longer in the bin, so of course it won’t need cycle as much! ⭐️ USING A GE SIDE TANK WITH THE MACHINE ⭐️ So instead of tossing our GE we decided to see if the Tank would work with this machine instead of filling the interior Water tank, which it does and it works wonderfully! I’ve included a video of what the machine looks like with the tubes installed, we did not have to add any hardware to make it work. Makes for less refills and you can see how much water the machine needs. Does not cause any excess water to occur in the interior under bin - I would recommend if you are not able to install a waterline, this is a great substitute. So if you are deciding between the two, I hope this review helps! I feel this machine is a better by in comparison 🧊

A nice counter-top nugget ice maker
Update April 1 2023 - Dropped rating to one star. Over the last few days I noticed pieces of metal in the ice and the ice bucket. I also noticed a small amount of water leaking from the unit. I disassembled the unit and found the water was leaking from the bottom end of the freeze chamber where it connects to the extruder transmission. It appears that the freeze chamber is sealed to the extruder transmission with a section of open cell foam insulation tape. Given the amount of corrosion present I believe this seal has been leaking slowly for some amount of time and finally reached a critical point where the leak was noticeable. As far as the pieces of metal in the ice, the top end of the extruder auger appears to have suffered a failure on both ramps causing the aluminum fragments to either become embedded in the ice or pushed out the top of the freeze assembly. These failures are unacceptable. If you're looking for a countertop ice maker, consider one that makes normal shaped ice cubes as those do not have an extruder assembly. If nugget/sonic ice is mandatory, consider spending more money on a name-brand or higher quality unit. Original Review: This is a great under $400 nugget ice maker. You remove the basket, add water, replace the basket, and turn it on. It starts making ice in about 15 minutes and will fill the basket in about 4-5 hours. When the basket is full it turns itself off. As the ice melts it drains through the basket into the water reservoir and the process starts again. I bought this with the expectation that I would hook it up to my water filter and let it run 24x7. I was either going to leave it on my countertop or put it in a cabinet. I decided letting it run 24x7 was not a good idea - this thing is about as loud as a dishwasher and generates a lot of heat. I ended up letting it run to produce a basket of ice, bagging the ice, and putting it in my freezer. Then I turn off the ice maker and empty it until I need more ice (every 2-3 days). For the price point and size and it's a great product, just know and understand the limitations of this. Edit - After using this for 5 days, I have come across a pretty bad flaw. If you turn the ice maker on and let it run, it will stop when the ice basket is full. Which is good. The bad part is that as the ice melts, and the level drops - the ice maker won't automatically restart. You have to open and close the lid to reset the maker and restart ice production. Again - know what you're buying an understand if it fits your use case.

HAPPY CUSTOMER🥰
I will try to give as many details as possible. Let me say first that, yes, it's identical to Sonic's ice which makes me happy.❤ I purchased a similar nugget ice maker prior to this purchase, but from a different seller and manufacturer. Unfortunately, right at the one-year anniversary of my purchase, it quit working without any indication of a problem. Apparently, it was a common issue with that particular product, and the company created a second version because of all the negative reviews and complaints. Despite the malfunction of the machine, neither the seller, nor the manufacturer would refund or replace my item. I even tried to repair it myself with no luck. It was disappointing, but at least I can give my intake about the difference in quality. I decided to purchase this one because it was half the price compared to the others listed on Amazon. When it arrived, I noticed it was not bulky and wide as the other one, so it took up less countertop space, which was definitely a plus. Don't let the size fool you; although it's not as bulky as the other ice-maker, it generates more ice in one batch at a much faster velocity...another plus. I buy a 1-gallon jug of water, and I will get at least three baskets of ice; by the way, the basket is a little bigger than it appears in the photos. I like the ice basket better than the pull-out tray. The appliance is quiet, easy to clean, and use...there is nothing complicated about this ice-maker. I am more than satisfied with my purchase; I love it, and highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a Sonic-like ice maker.
