The reason being this is not a basic board. I've needed a board with more area for some time so decided to treat myself with this chopping block. It's thick without being too heavy. I'm not sure if I'd be able to manage a solid wood block of this size as easily as this product. It will take me a bit of getting used to since this is my first "block" style board and it raises the cutting surface quite a bit up. I've included pictures of the underside and also of the side with measurement since it is not on the page currently. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Much Better Than $40 Options *by N***A on Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2013* We had a $40 cutting board from a high-end furniture/household store that looked great and we assumed was of high quality since it was high-priced ($40 seemed like a lot for a cutting board back then). We were totally wrong, it immediately began to warp and never looked as good as the first day we used it. Over time it started to develop cracks and eventually after about 6 months it all fell apart and split in half overnight (at night it was "fine", we went to sleep, woke up and it was in two pieces).So we came on here looking for reviews and the reviews for this Bamboo Big Kahuna were amazing so after thinking about it for sometime we decided to take the plunge thinking that that many 5-star reviews can't be wrong. And right we were, this thing is amazing. It is HUGE which is great because we have just the right amount of space for it on our counter. We had to change our cooking style a bit (instead of bringing the cutting board to the stove we brought the pots/pans to the cutting board to transfer veggies and meat). We use it for both veggies and meat, I know a lot of people say to use it for one or the other but it has been fine for us. We bought the Totally Bamboo oil to go along with it and it looks great after oiling it (hopefully it's also helping to maintain it structurally). Right now it looks as good as new and I think we bought it about 1-2 months ago. It shows cut marks when you look closely at it but otherwise it is in perfect condition. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a new cutting board. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ B-E-A-utiful Work of Art! *by M***N on Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2015* I've had this in my cart for about two years when I finally decided to fork over the money and purchase. I am SOOO glad I did. We love this work of art!I was perhaps expecting something bigger based on the other reviewers. It is big, sure enough, but not overwhelmingly so. I guess that opinion would be relative to your kitchen, counter space, and even personal height. For us, it is perfect. I am 5'11'' and my wife is 5'4" with a medium sized kitchen with very limited counter space (we use a lot of small appliances on a daily basis) and it works perfectly.Cleaning is a breeze, but one bonehead tip - don't use olive oil to season. I must admit, I have no idea what you're supposed to use, but I am seeing some grey spots that I believe may be mold growth, so I'm pretty sure that was my bad. Luckily I caught it early and it hasn't been an issue. Please comment if you have any advice on this matter that would be helpful.
