Review: For Garden, But I Used Product for a Bug Bite, Harris Neem Oil Can Be Used for a Variety of Issues. - Originally I bought this oil for my garden, but haven't used it for that at this time. One afternoon I got bit by a bug while outside in the backyard. I'm not sure what kind of bug. My hand was red, swelling, very itchy around a small bump. Instead of slathering the reg. bug bite concoction on the area, I decided to put the Neem oil on that night. Sometimes I overlook the other qualities of a product, such as smell, if it does what it says it does. This oil has a earthy smell to it. "I can tell you it worked!" It relieved and soothed the itchiness, swelling and redness in a short time. Two days later, you can barely see that I had a bug bite. When I was applying Neem oil to my bite area that night I noticed how dry my cuticles were so I rubbed some on my cuticles. My cuticles soaked it right up and they are not dry anymore. The next night, I decided I was going to forgo my usual night time oil and just use Neem oil after I washed my face. I've had some issues with "adult" acne that is finally clearing up by using Neem oil. It is good for the skin. I even add it to my shampoo. I mix some drops with my reg. mix of tea tree oil and/or peppermint oil in with my shampoo for scalp and hair care. I am amazed with this product. I haven't used Harris Neem Oil before or any other brand as far as that goes. This is my first time using. I don't need to look for another brand, I'm happy with my purchase and I'm keeping Harris Neem Oil on my vanity table.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone used this oil directly on skin or is it better to mix with other base oils first?**
A: I've used it directly on my skin and scalp -- it works wonders, but as others have noted, the smell isn't great. To me, it's similar to garlic. 

However, I just put it on when I'm going to be alone (since my partner hates the smell!) and then I wash / shampoo it off. I'm very happy with it and plan to purchase more when I run out of this one!

**Q: Does neem oil stop hair loss?**
A: Absolutely. Need leaf helps with hair growth.  But you might want to add Olive oil and some Aloe Vera gel to help kill bacteria on the scalp and to relieve some of that smell from Neem oil, perhaps add a few drops of lavender or your favorite essential oil to make it smell good.

**Q: How often do you use this to prevent pests?**
A: If it does not rain after applying I do it at the first sign of the pest then I check daily for signs of the pests return which I have not seen ,this tells me it does work but not if the plants were infested, only at first sign which is mainly preventive.....

**Q: How to use on my dog? She has bald reddish skin patches**
A: It sounds like your dog is having atopic dermatitis/allergy issues. Most products (including shampoos) are going to irritate their skin- Even the “oatmeal skin soothing” ones.

 You need to try to find what’s causing the allergies and talk to your vet about a round of medications (oral and/or topical) to help clear it up and give your dog some relief.

I’d start by washing all of your bedding, blankets, whatever in a fragrance free laundry detergent. Unplug/stop using any air fresheners, essential oil diffusers (toxic to pets anyway), febreze, and anything else of the sort. DO NOT use any human products on them unless your vet specifically says to- Benadryl is an exception to this and can help with allergies. 

If you bathe your dog, only use warm water while they have flare ups. You can put something like coconut oil (unrefined, unbleached, cold pressed) on as a moisturizer to stave off dry skin. 

Once again, talk to your vet.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hold your nose

Neem oil definitely isn’t winning any awards for fragrance, it smells like burning rubber tires, and the scent can cling to your skin even after washing, so I recommend avoiding direct contact. That being said, it works wonderfully as a natural pest treatment for plants. I use it in my homemade remedy, and just a small amount goes a long way, so this bottle will last quite a while. Out of all the options I found, this felt like the most natural and effective solution. Overall, it’s worth the price for the results and longevity.
