Live up to the hype
I have long long long seen these batteries in numerous applications. All the way back to when I was in high school, I would see these in sound systems all over the place. Now that I have an expensive sound system, this is what powers it. I could not be more happier. I can cut off my car and run my sound system for hrs. at a tailgate and my car will crank right up like nothing happened. Easy to install, a little pricy but worth it. Solid Quality and the battery protection system is next to non.

Really a 4.5 "because"...
This is officially my sixth Optima Yellow Top battery, and the first that has had an issue requiring warranty support. Unfortunately, I was told by Optima that Amazon is not on their authorized retailer list therefore I am unable to take it to a local retailer for warranty support. I also confirmed via my Amazon account that it cannot be returned to Amazon. What to do, what to do. Well, even though it is only 9 months old, I bought a brand new Optima from my local Autozone that I know will be an easy exchange should I ever have an issue again. Now, on to the battery: These have worked well for me in multiple applications from HD trucks to multi-amp-ed Trans Am's and even an off-road Jeep. I've never had one fail until now but be aware that these are not "plug-and-play" batteries like a wet lead-acid type that most people use and/or grew up with when it comes to charging. I'd suggest visiting Optima's web site and reading the differences between their Red, Yellow and Blue top batteries so you understand their application and the type of care and feeding they require. The Yellow covers both cranking amps for starter motors as well as deep-cycle capacity for applications with a large amperage draw such as amplifiers and accessories like winches and such. I've averaged over 6 years out of each battery until I had this one fail and two were going strong when the vehicles left my possession. I'm guessing that a number of those who are saying this is a bad battery or doesn't last haven't taken the time to learn about them. They can be drained completely down and yet recover where a standard battery won't. But, and it is a big but, they must be recovered following very specific procedures and no, you can't simply hook up a charger and expect it to recover automatically. Do some research and you'll confirm what I already know, these are not standard batteries and yes, they are better than your standard wet-cell batteries, in my opinion. For me, they've outlasted every other type of battery I've used and are what I buy when the stock battery dies or when I need more power for accessories. Peace.

Use what work and these work!
One is great for your Polaris Slingshot. Three is what I use. Yes, I use three of these. I mounted a Zarate tray in the engine bay and now my Audio and lights are connected to the two batteries up front. I ran on of these for the longest for my audio and it worked well but the Volts dropped pretty fast on the one. I have a 320-amp alternator that helps a lot. now with the three batteries, my Slingshot can run for hours, and I don't get any voltage drops. Before I installed these batteries, people kept telling me to put lithium batteries in my Slingshot. I am sticking to what I know works. These batteries are durable and with multiple connections, the installation of your components gives you options. They do weight 26 pounds each, but the quality of these batteries is second to none. Unless someone can convince me to use a different battery, these are the ones I am sticking to.

Optima doesn't seem to be what it used to be.
Old optima batteries seemed to last longer, hold a charge longer, etc. these new ones cost more than oem/cheap local parts store brand batteries and don't even last as long.. definitely don't hold a charge as long. i have to keep a charger on my yellow top in my classic car and the last one died after about 3yrs. old optimas would last 5+ easily.

Three Years
I've used Optima Yellows for decades since they will tolerate vibration and winching. But I think this will be it for me. I seem to be getting less and less life out of them, and managed only about three years this time around. Eventually, the starting voltage would drop enough to cause computer issues, especially if the vehicle hadn't been driven for a few days. And I even have an added a diode in the regulator circuit to slightly boost the charge voltage from the alternator, which is old trick for getting a little more life out of them. These appear to have a high rate of internal discharge when they sit for any period of time, even when disconnected from the vehicle electrics. And they also degrade quickly in terms of CCA, which is what causes the low-voltage issues on startups.

Depenabily
I had an Interstate battery for 12 yrs, when it died I replaced it with 2 smaller I interstate batteries but with a total of more amp hrs. They didn't last 1 yr. but Interstate replaced them under warranty. That was good but the replacement ones didn't last any longer. I didn't bother returning them, didn't see any point to it. That's when I bought this one, installed it and haven't looked back. It's still working as good as day one. I use the battery for electrical lights and other things in my house, not in a car/boat.

Died after 11 months
Couldn't hold a charge after 11 months. I bought it in January 21 and it stopped holding a charge by December 21. Waiting to see what warranty service is going to be like. I've run with Optima red and yellow top batteries for years. I'd heard the quality had gone downhill since I last bought one, but went ahead anyway. I got burned, never had an Optima go on me after less than a year.
