In our area this chip is rarely used for that reason but rather the universal readable ones **Q: What chips will this scanner NOT read?** A: I tried to scan 15 dogs who all had chips. It did not pick up any of them. **Q: Does this scanner read AKC microchips?** A: Yes it does.
