Effective for relief of dry, flaky skin
This petroleum based product reminds me of diluted Vaseline, but doesn't smell as much and is able to be slathered more smoothly. I used it for just a few days on my lower legs and it improved the dry, flaky skin and they look much better now.. I plan to keep using it even though it left my hand very slippery. I just needed to have a paper towel handy to clean my hand. Pretty good value given the size of the container and how much it takes to cover a large area.

Great product
Great product I would recommend it to anyone. Work as good as Aquaphor but for less. Great value for your buck, amazing for your skin.

The best value so far!
Just like the expensive brand, this jar is as large as you see and expect. Great price for the money. Works just as well as the expensive brand but lasts longer due to the larger jar size. Buy this if you’ve been spending a lot of money on other name brand ointments.

A Solid, Value-Packed Alternative to Aquaphor
I've used this ointment on my hands, elbows, and lips through some dry winter weather. It creates a solid protective barrier that lasts through hand washing and daily activities. While it doesn't feel quite as heavy-duty as Aquaphor upon application, it still effectively soothes dry skin and prevents moisture loss. I found it particularly good for daytime use when I want protection without the heavy, greasy feel. Compared to Aquaphor, the Amazon version is slightly less thick and spreads more easily. While Aquaphor might have a slight edge for extremely dry, cracked areas that need maximum protection, the Basics ointment handles 90% of what most people need from a protective ointment. If you're budget-conscious or go through a lot of healing ointment, this is absolutely worth trying. The minor difference in thickness is easily outweighed by the significant savings. It's perfect for everyday dry skin maintenance, lip protection, and general first-aid needs. I'll continue using it as my primary ointment for most situations. TLDR: Pros: · Excellent value - it truly is about half the price of brand-name alternatives · Performs the core function of protecting and moisturizing dry skin very well · Sinks into the skin a bit faster than thicker ointments · Works great on dry patches, cuticles, and minor rough spots · The large tube is convenient and lasts a long time Cons: · Not quite as thick or viscous as Aquaphor · The texture feels slightly less rich upon application

Economical and versatile
This product is very expensive as name brand and sold by the ounce. I purchased some small empty containers and used an alcohol cleaned butter knife to fill them with individual sized containers. This is great for bedtime on lips and any dry area. It also removes any and all makeup. This is one of my most economical purchases of the year.

Dupe for Aquaphor
I bought this because it is much cheaper than aquaphor. The consistency is similar to aquaphor but is not as thick as it. This one has a more lotion feel to it. A little goes along way.

Wanted it to work but Aquaphor is better
I really wanted this product to work but it's just not as good as name-brand Aquaphor. As some others have mentioned, the ointment is thinner and it turns into more of an oil texture when rubbed onto skin, if that makes sense. It's similar to the Walmart brand (Equate) which I tried too. I have eczema and my lips get really dry and chapped in the winter. This product worked in a pinch and it helped a little but definitely not as well as Aquaphor. If you struggle with the same skin issues I wouldn't recommend.
