I bought (and then got 2 additional through Amazon Vine) the MX3 Pro Remote to use with my Home Theater PC, in particular, I needed a remote that would work with Plex, turn my 2016 Samsung TV on/off, and change inputs/volume of my surround sound system. The MX3 Pro did everything I needed it to with ease. I was able to set everything up in about 20 minutes after opening the box, and that included reading the instructions and playing with all the different buttons. I was able to set the power button to turn off/on the TV, and the four customizable color buttons at the bottom of the remote worked flawlessly for my surround sound. For my use case, I use 2 of the buttons for volume, one for power, and the other as a source/input button. For Plex users, many of the other remotes and controllers have syncing issues with Plex HTPC that cause errors or are ignored by Plex HTPC altogether, looking at you Xbox controller users, BUT this remote worked on Plex right out of the box with no setup once so ever! For the first time since using Plex HTPC my partner can also just grab the remote and use our living room TV without getting confused by the 3 different remotes and unique start-up procedures that we once had to deal with. The remote is so easy to use that even a child could use my complex Plex HTPC setup. This took my clunky niche hobby and made it approachable for anyone who comes over to use my home theater for only $10??? How did I not know about this until now? Next, the buttons themselves. The illuminated back lights also make all the difference in our dark living room "theater". Even better, it only illuminates the side that is face up and only after you press a button, so it saves on battery life while still being ready to use at any moment. My stock surround sound remote has almost 50 buttons on it and none of them are illuminated. Finding the right one in the dark has been a problem since we bought it, but thanks to the MX3 Pro, there's no more fumbling in the dark. It was not uncommon in the past for me to try to turn the sound up and accidentally change inputs or other settings, much to the chagrin of my partner. I also love being able to flip the remote over and quickly type in search bars. The navigational layout also feels natural and easy to use. You have to press the buttons quite firmly for them to register. I believe this was intentional so you don't accidentally hit buttons. Additionally, I noticed the buttons on the upright side are the only ones that work, so you can't accidentally hit the buttons on the bottom of the remote when trying to use it. The only con is the range of the air mouse function. It works great from about 10 feet away, but beyond that, it’s very jumpy and difficult to use. I will likely only use this feature occasionally, so it is not a big deal to me, but if you are picturing yourself lying in bed with a TV on the other side of the room, I don't think you will be satisfied with it. There is a button on the remote if you want to disable it so the cursor isn't scrolling all over the screen. I did try using a USB port extension and mounting the dongle on top of the TV, which helped significantly, but a cable did not come with the kit, and I don't think this would be done in a typical install. All in all, I’d highly recommend this remote for anyone trying to get a smoother experience out of their Home Theater PC. The only thing I would change is a longer-range antenna for the USB dongle so the Air Mouse works better and I'd love even more of the programmable buttons. For the price, you really can’t beat it. I am legitimately surprised this remote is only $10.

Great remote for the price. Works well, backlight is bright and paired with Kodi and LibreELEC right away. The buttons are a little looser, but its expected for the price. -1 star on the product itself because it has a little quirk where the air mouse has to be turned on and off for the keyboard to recognize. However on the plus side, it does have an accelerometer so it knows which side is up and only the keys and backlight work on that side. No accidentally hitting a key on the back

This is a really nice replacement for the weird sized / shaped remotes that streaming players come with. It's bigger than I expected which was a nice surprise. However only in length and width. It's quite thin especially for having two working sides. The buttons are a soft rubbery material with great feel. Tactile feel of pressing buttons is perfect. If you're old enough to remember, you'll be transported back to the 80's and 90's when AV stuff came with nice big great feeling remotes. I have no idea why makers of modern electronics feel the need to "innovate" with remotes. Remotes were perfected 40+ years ago. Why try to reinvent the wheel? (And do a crappy job every time!) The remote is light as a feather with batteries installed. If you have hardwood floors or tile you'll appreciate that when you drop it. It's not heavy enough to self-destruct like most modern remotes. I'm looking at you, Nvidia Shield TV remote! The backlight on the white backlight model is BRIGHT! Too bright for a fully dark room. I wish there was a key to adjust it. To my surprise, the air mouse works great and is not overly sensitive. I have an old Samsung TV with an air mouse remote that's so sensitive you need the dexterity of a surgeon to use it. I was able to learn all the buttons I wanted to from a Samsung TV circa 2013 . I could not learn all the buttons I wanted from an 2015-ish LG TV. Would be nice if it could learn from any IR remote regardless of protocol. More custom learned buttons would be nice too. However, the learning procedure is simple and efficient. THE KEYBOARD ON THE BACK IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE NVIDIA SHIELD TV (2015). I have two shields and it doesn't work with either one. I have no idea how that could happen. Follow the USB HID spec and it should work on anything. It was the one thing I was sure would work before I bought the remote. Oh, well... These have become my "daily driver" remotes for my Nvidia Shield TV's and they're a pleasure to use. Previously, I used the new model Shield TV remotes. I have of those and they both broke in less than a year. The icing on the cake is the super easy to access AAA battery door, no screwing with USB recharging and so easy to open. They do go though batteries quick if you keep the backlight enabled but that's what rechargeables are for right? The remote works perfectly fine with NiMH AAA batteries. I might buy a couple multi-packs to keep as spares since this is kind of a generic unbranded item and might disappear from Amazon without warning. That's how much I like them.

First things first: everything they say in the product description is correct; the device works as described, and is usable as both mouse and keyboard from the couch. The mouse cursor tracking is as good as (if not better than) the Wii remote, but uses only gyroscopes and accelerometers without the need for setup or any external hardware. The precision is sufficient to us the on-screen keyboard comfortably in Windows; in fact, I'm typing this review that way. The layout is well thought-out; and the option to stop/resume cursor tracking with a single button allows you to always have a comfortable wrist angle and avoid fatigue, as the remote does not have to point at the cursor. The motion is relative, as with a regular mouse. And if it drifts away too far, getting it back is as easy as lifting the mouse from the pad while moving it. The keyboard is good, and the backlight is welcome. My only wish is that it had a Ctrl/Alt/Shift buttons. Instead, there's Caps Lock. Not that much difference for typing, but some keyboard shortcuts are unavailable - notably, Alt+Shift to switch input languages. If I could have a wish, it'd be for a more standard keyboard. And maybe a scroll wheel. Conveniently placed PgUp/PgDn buttons do make up for it though. The remote knows which side is up, and disables the other side. It's so fun and comfortable to use, I forget I'm using it - I can focus solely on whatever I'm doing on the screen. That's the first time I'm feeling this comfortable using a PC from the couch.

Very flimsy feeling when we got it. Just felt cheaply made. Broke about a month in to where button presses are not always recognized. Now sometimes you hit the down button and it either doesn't work, does move once, or moves twice. It's an absolute crap show navigating to where I need to be now. Thankfully I replaced it and only had to deal with for a few days. Battery life was good, but nowadays most remotes have rechargeable batteries and USB-C at that. I'd look elsewhere.

Worked ok at first but poor after a few months quality diminishes for example when pressing a button on the remote once makes the remoter red repeat the same function several times, even though user pressed it once , and makes the remote control almost in a stuck state a bit annoying.

Ordered this remote control and it functions as it should but definitely feels cheap quality wise....the seams where it snaps together feel very sharp in hand and do not line up evenly, I constantly feel it in my hand and its annoying, very sharp corners also, as well programmable buttons are good except for the power button for some reason its except my TV power button and works first time to power off and on but then after it loses the programming .....whats weird is I actually have to program 2 buttons on this remote for the TV power in order for the button to work utizing both buttons...I have to hit one and then hit the other for my TV to power off....so weird that this is the case....all my other devices programmed with no issues...other than that it works and for the price the backlit feature is nice. .... one thing i really wish these companies that all copy the same remote would do is make a silicone cover for it, dropped it lightly once recently and it already chipped in the corner

This remote is perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Being able to plug it straight into my computer and easily pause, play, and control media makes it incredibly convenient, especially when I don’t want to be right at my desk. The backlit keyboard is a great feature and makes it easy to use even in low light. The point-and-click mouse function is super handy and adds a lot of flexibility. While it’s not incredibly easy to direct at first and takes a bit of getting used to, it’s still very useful once you get the hang of it. Overall, this remote does exactly what it’s supposed to do and does it well. It’s a great addition for anyone who wants simple media control and keyboard functionality in one compact device.
