Clearance issue when using BG-E13
This is worth the savings. I can't directly compare it to the Canon version, because I've never handled the Canon version. But, there's really no point in purchasing the more expensive "name brand," unless it is free from the minor design flaw I have noticed. First, it appears to be well-made and durable. I don't envision having any (other) problems with it due to its quality. Here's the minor design flaw: (Anyone with a Canon 6D should take note) My set-up is a Canon 6D and a EF 70-200mm F/4 L IS, with a BG-E13 battery grip, and a Manfrotto ball head (the model escapes me at the moment). The BG-E13 battery grip sticks out a bit more at the bottom than the 6D body itself, and with the collar mounted on the lens, and my quick-release plate on said collar, I can't mount it to the ball head. I guess you could say this may be a design flaw in any one of the related components. I'd put it on the collar, seeing as how it's a simple matter of creating a tad more clearance. What happens is, the BG-E13 sticks out, and the footing of the collar is right in line with it, making it impossible for me to release the clamping mechanism on my ball head and still mount the collar while on the lens and camera. The solution is that I have to mount the collar on the ball head first, then slip my lens/camera set-up into the collar. Even in doing that, the BG-E13 makes contact with my ball head's clamping mechanism...it appears to be putting some pressure on the grip. I suspect with repeated use, this will lead to some minor cosmetic damage to the grip. I hope I'm articulating this well enough. At any rate, I am not sure if anyone else has the same set-up as me and is using the Canon version. It's possible that the Canon model has no clearance issue. Without the battery grip, there is no clearance issue at all.

Weird green/white color but itโs a good buy...
Mush less costly than Canonโs piece... weird green tint to the white paint but a really good value.

Good quality, cheaper than Canon
Far cheaper than the Canon version, works perfectly fine.

Quality after-market solution at fair price
Although this is a higher cost product than most of the other after-market lens collars for this specific set of compatible Canon lenses, this Vello collar is well made, fits perfect, has a quality look and feel, and a very close color match to Canon lens. The color difference is really not noticeable. There is "premium" product packaging, instructions, and bubble wrap protection. Maybe I would have been pleased with a $15 -$20 off brand with lousy printing on the base, but I sure am delighted with the Vello collar for $50. By the way, when fitted to the Canon 70-200 f4 lens and a Canon 80D camera (or 70D), the balance on a Manfrotto monopod is nearly perfect. Although Canon does not provide a collar with lighter weight lenses as many photographers would shoot handheld, I find that for a 90 minute soccer game the use of the monopod with the collar is highly desirable. Also the vertical rotation is quick and easy.

Works fine on my lense.
This worked fine on my Canon EF 70 -200 mm f4 IS USM. The only problem with my unit was the finish was chipped in two places.

It works pretty decent for the price
It works pretty decent for the price ! If you're using a grip you need to put the release on backwards For it to work right. It's a little stiff (tWSS!)

Wrong storefront description!
Storefront description says this ring will fit a f2.8 70-200, but the product packaging does not!! Hence, the ring I received will not fit my lens! It's too small!! There is no option on the storefront to select the appropriate lens collar, so I have to assume I got the correct the product. Packaging states this collar is for the f4 70-200 & f5.6 400mm lenses.

Canon 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6L IS USM only
This does not fit the Canon 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6L IS USM. Maybe the " II " but not the first lens. The ring is too small. Really tough well built otherwise.

Great Qualty and Value
As per my previous revue of the same product but finished in black. Very good quality tripod mount but at roughly half the price for the Canon branded one. A perfect fit for my Canon f4 70-200mm L IS lens.
