There are also metric, Japanese and British sizes. The only way to be sure of an o-ring's size is to measure the ID, OD and cross section with a caliper. For US o-rings, the numbers printed next to each silhouette on the gauge are called "dash" numbers. O-rings made to AS-568 specifications, no matter who the manufacturer is, will be the same size. So a -105 (dash 105) o-ring will have an inside diameter of .143, an outside diameter of .349 and a cross-section of .103. The first digit of a dash number tells you the cross section in decimal inches. 0 is .070, 1 is .103, 2 is .139, 3 is .210 and 4 is .275.
