Review: Good Gaming Headset, Bad Mic Quality - Ok, first off, I would like to say that this is an absolutely amazing headset sound wise. The virtual surround sound couldn't be more accurate, and music sounds great to me in it. But, I will go into more detail later on. I would like to just state up front now though, that if you need to use the microphone on this headset for anything outside of voice chat in games or skype with your friends, look elsewhere, or consider buying a standalone mic. The mic on this headset is understandable, but the quality is terrible, and it will randomly cut your voice off mid sentence due to badly designed background noise removal that you can't turn off. But, on with my review of this headset. I decided to upgrade from my aging Turtle Beach x32's (Yes, I know that headset is made for the Xbox, but they sell a pc adapter cable, and it worked great for me.) and decided to go with surround sound this time. I bought this headset mostly because it is the only blue headset I have ever seen, and it matches my all blue pc build. Surround Sound Quality: 5/5 I have tried out Titanfall, Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty Ghosts, and I do definitely feel like I have an advantage over other players. Think of it this way, you are sitting in a small room with two doors. With a stereo headset, you can hear footsteps, and you know somebody is coming, but you don't know which door they will walk through and have a higher chance of dying. With this headset however, in that same situation, you know which direction the footsteps are coming from, and you have a much higher chance of not dying due to that extra bit of knowledge you wouldn't get with a regular headset. The surround quality in this headset is better than my 5.1 surround sound setup in our media room, so this definitely earns a 5/5 in this category. Sound Quality: 4/5 I am rating the overall sound quality of this headset a 4/5 for one reason. The virtual surround sound in this headset tries to make all sounds "Surround" your head, and in doing so, it makes anything that isn't a game, or music seem like it's being played in a big stone room with all the sound echoing off of the virtual walls the headset seems to create. You do get used to this effect quickly, and I now kind of like the effect, it makes things seem a bit more real I guess, but I'm just throwing this out there for anybody who might care to know about that. One last thing for this category, I have seen too many people online complaining about the headset glitching out whenever you have something that is surround sound and something in stereo playing at the same time. (it will rapidly swap between stereo and surround sound and produce a lot of static.) I have found a way to fix this. (This is for windows vista and 7.) You simply open your control panel in windows, go to Hardware and Sound, click on the button that says manage audio devices, and in the playback tab, find something labeled with Logitech G430 Gaming Headset, click on it, and then click properties. It should open up a new window, with the tabs General, Levels, Enhancements and Advanced. Go to Enhancements and find the one in the list labeled "Speaker Fill" check the box next to it and click apply. Basically, what that did was tell your computer to turn all stereo sound into surround sound, and that prevents the scenario where the headset could glitch out. Mic Quality: 2/5 I am giving this a 2/5 for the reasons I told you about above, the mic is understandable, but does not have good quality. If you simply plan to use it for skype calling with your friends, maybe some in game chat, it will be absolutely fine for you then, but, since I'm a youtuber, I have much higher standards for my mic quality. If you plan to use the mic for business, recording yourself singing, recording videos for youtube, or anything where you need to sound good, consider buying a blue snowball mic, or something comparable to it. Final thoughts: So, this headset is overall a good headset for the price, good sound quality, good surround sound emulation, and ok mic quality. I personally have a Blue Snowball microphone, so the mic being not so great on the headset is no big deal for me, but it might be for other people. I hope that this review has helped you to see the ups and downs of this headset, and help you to decide if it's worth your money!
Review: Amazing gaming headset - I spent multiple hours looking at the selection of headsets available on desertcart, and originally was going to pass on this one because of the reviews taking about how the microphone breaks easily or it's really quiet to other players, or how terrible the sound quality of it is. But after looking around, I did wind up getting this because of it's value, and the fact that I'm a Logitech fan. When it arrived I opened it right away to get gaming. It took a little bit of set up time, mainly a few minutes to download the LCore program from Logitech to play around with the settings of the headset, but within an hour I was ready to go. So the first thing I did was test out the simulated 7.1 surround sound feature. Changed up the audio settings on my game to playback in that format, and let me tell you I was not disappointed. You feel so much more immersed into the game with the surround sound versus just a stereo headset, and it worked just as well as any headset that has actual surround sound drivers in it. The sound quality is good, it's not as good as and professional grade set of studio headphones, but I wouldn't expect that out of a $70 gaming headset. For casual and even hardcore gamers, the sound quality is perfect for what it's intended for, playing video games. If you're planning on using them for listening to music, they work great for that too. Now onto what I had my worries with, the microphone. Ever since I've started using it, I've had no problems what so ever. I don't know why everyone else seems to be having issues with it. All of my friends can hear what I say fine, so it's not quiet. After recording myself and listen to the audio playback, it sounds as good as any microphone I've ever used, so I see no issues with it's recording quality. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now, and it's still working fine, so it doesn't break easy. Maybe I just got lucky with SuperMic, but I highly doubt it. The microphone is great and works exactly as it's supposed to. The headset is very comfortable as well. I wear it for multiple hours at a time as I'm a very serious gamer. The padding around the ears and on your head is really comfortable and so far has not caused my any pain even after playing for hours on end. The headset adjusts to big sizes too, I have a huge head that most other headphones squeeze down on at full extent and most hats will not fit on at all, and I can get this thing big enough to be loose on me, so there is no worries that this thing will be to small. My only complaint about this headset is the cord, which in my opinion is unnecessarily long. But then again, I'm playing with my laptop right in front of me. For those who are using it for console gaming, the extra length from your console to your chair is probably pretty nice. Overall this is an amazing gaming headset that I've had absolutely no issues with at all and would recommend to everyone :) TL;DR: Perfect headset with no issues, buy it.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How long is the cable?**
A: 2.3-meter cable

**Q: IS this a USB headset?**
A: Yes and no. It has the standard mic and headset plugs, but it also comes with a USB dongle that those can plug into. The USB dongle is necessary if you want to take advantage of the Logitech software that offers the 7.1 surround.

**Q: is this headset worth 70 dollars**
A: Austin, for me and simply, yes, it is worth more than $70. I am not a gamer, however, and just an old music fan and especially the multi channel sounds available with 5.1 or higher outputs. I have my 'sound room' (AKA our TV room) set to 5.1 but with about 20 different speakers in different locations around the room. In no instance can I replicate the output I receive from the Logitech G430. It captures every sound I normally hear and on certain playback sounds I have never heard before. If I were buying a headset for gaming I would attempt to find a cordless one first with no strong need for the G430 type of output. But, as I said I am not a gamer and I can see where a 7.1 output could be fantastic. At times the headset is well worth far more than $70 and if I had the same set in a cordless version I would be delighted if it works as well. Additionally, I have several sets of cheap headphones and one set that cost over $100. Not one of them matches the quality and performance of the G430. I hope my reply added a different dimension to your investigation and if you decide on this set I think you will get the same level of entertainment as I have. Good question and sorry for the bloviation, John

**Q: How does the ear cups feel? are they warm?**
A: Well the ear cups are a very nice mesh that keeps air going to your ears for coolness. They are warm after wearing them for a few minutes
