Best sourdough starter Iโve ever used.
I canโt say I have any complaints. Iโve tried making sourdough starter on my own. Using store bought bread yeast, or just leaving a jar of flour and water out to ferment naturally. Every time Iโve done that the starter has a terrible taste, very sour, makes the bread taste more like lemons then bread. I end up throwing the bread out and the starter out. But this starter is very different. It activated in about two days. I used it to bake my first loaf of bread on day three. That first loaf came out kind of flat, more like a bagel then bread. But the second loaf came out perfectly! This starter has excellent flavor! Not too potent. Just a hint of sour. Takes longer to rise then store bought yeast but that is to be expected. Iโve baked two loaves of bread so far and made a batch of waffles. The taste is fantastic. So much better then the starter Iโve started on my own. I named my starter Frank because I knew a Frank who was an old guy who always looked grouchy but was actually a nice guy. Thatโs my starter. Frank. Frank is sitting on the counter right now bubbling away. Heโs happy.

Molded
Did NOT work. I followed the instructions to a T. This starter ended up molding and did not create a good bubble in the starter. Ended up throwing it out on day 10. Total waste of money.

Simple to use, follow instructions
After two days of uncertainty due to minimal activity in my starter, I began to doubt its vitality. However, on the third day, my doubts were dispelled as my starter culture experienced significant growth, more than doubling in size. It turned out that it simply required a warmer temperature to thrive. Now, I'm back to baking a loaf every other day, thanks to its gradual development, which conveniently aligns with my schedule. This product has proven to be an excellent investment, offering both quality and affordability.

Amazing starter!
I received this starter about a week ago and it has been amazing. Was active by day 2, and doubling by day 3. Started using it by day 5. It's super healthy, and regularly triples (pic of starter is less than an hour after feeding it!). Makes the most delicious bread (jalapeno cheddar sourdough pictured) and discard pancakes! Highly recommend this starter

Happy Customer
My starter took a couple more days to be ready than the instruction and had two unsuccessful doughs that didn't rise, but once the starter was established, I have had good bread.

Didn't work
This starter never started. Mild activity when fed and resulted in flat bread with no rise.

A good way to get an organic sourdough starter going
I actually has a batch of this starter going with this product and made a wonderful tasting artisan bread but being my first foray into sourdough and bread as a whole, I did some things that caused that batch to go bad. Totally my fault for not doing more research into the Do's and Don'ts of sourdough starter. Like, Don't use metal utensils and Do make sure Everything is very clean and Do change and clean glass containers on a regular basis and Don't contaminate the starter or the jar with anything. A bit expensive but if you do it right, it's a one time expense. (First one was a gift)
