It takes a tiny 10180 lithium-ion battery, which can be replaced. Note that this cell is too small to fit in bay chargers, so must be charged in the flashlight with a micro-USB cable. The flashlight unscrews to expose the charging port, but doesn't separate, so you won't need to worry about losing half of it while charging (and then having no flashlight to find the missing piece).Two brightness settings, and the lowest one is enough to find that pill you dropped under the table, or pen under the desk.
