## Overview

The DriveShaft Shop GTOSH2-A-0506 is a direct-fit, one-piece 3.5" aluminum driveshaft designed exclusively for 2005-2006 Pontiac GTOs. Rated for up to 1000HP and 997 lb-ft torque, it features a 7075-T6 aluminum 1350 u-joint flange that eliminates the need for adapter plates and complex differential adjustments. This lightweight, high-strength shaft improves throttle response, reduces drivetrain vibrations, and offers a straightforward bolt-on upgrade for both manual and automatic transmissions.

## Description

Now with a direct fit rear flange, eliminates the billet aluminum adapter plate!!!!! The 3.5" aluminum single piece driveshaft is a direct bolt-on system. Most driveshafts available for the GTO platform require the rear flange to removed from the diff, the problem with this is that the differential is a crush collar type, and the preload on the nut sets the pinion depth to make sure the rear gears have the proper engagement. What we have done is made a 7075-T6 aluminum 1350 u-joint flange that will bolt directly to the 3 finger flange on the rear, eliminating the adapter plate.. This eliminates the need to have a professional set the pinion lash on the differential. Just unbolt the factory 2 piece shaft, install the 1-piece shaft with the included hardware and go.The only necessary modification is the tip of the rear seatbelt bolt that protrudes into the driveshaft tunnel must be ground down to provide adequate clearance for the driveshaft. Changing the shaft in this car is perhaps one of the most noticeable performance enhancements you can do as the car will have better throttle response and feel smoother overall. Not only is it lighter but the hanger bearing on the factory driveshaft moves up and down violently when the car is being driven hard. This action is not only dangerous but robs the drive train of power. Capable of 997lb of torque based on shock factor of 3.5. Rated to 1000HP and 155MPH Max Top SpeedPart #GTOSH2 1000HP 1-Piece Aluminum DriveshaftApplication: 2005 Pontiac GTO 2006 Pontiac GTONotes: 2005-2006 ONLY fits both 6 speed and auto

Review: Your GTO needs this! - I would give this 6 stars if I could. I am seriously impressed. I scoffed at reports of improved driveability, but it's really there. It's worth every penny! I bought it because I started getting the "bowling ball in the trunk" sensation of a failing center bearing carrier, and I figured I would eliminate some weight and a repeat failure in the future. I was pleasantly surprised at the driving improvement. One of my favorite moves is to make a right turn and hit the gas. On the stock shaft with the traction control on, if I wasn't careful the tires would break loose and the engine would just about shut down. With TC off, the rear end was in danger of breaking all the way loose and sliding sideways. The other day, I was able to do this and CONTROL it with the throttle for the first time since owning this car. After researching installation, I decided to pay a local mechanic to install it. The exhaust is under the driveshaft and must be dropped to replace the shaft. The exhaust may also need to be adjusted not to touch the shaft. If you had a lift or a way to raise the entire car sufficiently I don't think it would be difficult. Also, the passenger side bolt in the rear seat belt center mount must be shortened about 3/8". It's easy to remove the seat bottom by pulling the plastic handles under the front edge. Then you can remove the bolt and either cut it shorter or install a shorter bolt. The original is a grade 5 1" x 7/16-20 SAE thread (this is correct, they are NOT metric). The bottom 1/4" is unthreaded so I don't recommend shimming it up with washers. No need messing with the driver side bolt; the shaft rides in the right-hand side of the tunnel, so the left-hand stock bolt is completely clear of it.
Review: Great replacement. Better than OEM by far. - Super easy to install. It comes with a new set of bolts, you just need a 10mm allen wrench to install. The hardest part was taking all of the OEM parts out of the car. I was amazed at how complicated Pontiac made the simple task of transferring power from the transmission to the differential. I found that not only was my carrier bearing rubber cushion gone, but the rubber flexible couplings at both ends of the drive shaft were badly cracked and on the verge of failing. Once all of the OEM parts were out of the way I had to pull all of the exhaust hangers to gain enough room to install the new larger shaft. Make sure to shorten the seat belt bolt. Once installed, the bumping noise (carrier bearing) that I've had for about a year are gone and the car runs better than ever. Power transfer is immediate.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best upgrade, couldn't be any happier!
*by T***M on October 26, 2017*

Installed on my 2006 gto, the car is night and day difference. One of the biggest improvements I made on the car. The transfer of power to the rear feels crisp and instant. It wasn't that hard to install it, although it would be nice if the supplied hardware had some instructions to the order of bolt, waaher, and nut placement. Not a biggy as I did it and it's been solid for the last six months. WELL worth it!
