Bumpy side up/down or doesn't matter?** A: Didn't really seem to matter, really nice product. **Q: Are these strong enough to level a hot tub/spa?** A: I used mine to level a large outdoor deck (2x6's and deck boards, etc). The whole deck must weigh 2,000 pounds... No issues . **Q: can you staple thru these for hardwood floor installation?** A: Hello! The shims can be nailed, stapled, etc.  We do recommend a staple or nail with as small of a diameter as necessary to facilitate successfully securing the flooring. If the diameter of the staples/nail is too big, then it may cause the shim to crack.
