Does this have the sdn as part of the switch, or do i still need the hardware controller? if not, why not?

SDN is not built into the switch, but a simpler web GUI is built in if you want to manage in a standalone manner. It's not a fancy though. The SDN controller can be a installed on a server/computer/docker/raspberry pi if you don't want to buy the controller hardware.

What hardware version is this? v1 or v2?

I have the TL-SG3428X switch. This can be confusing. The TPLink site says to look for "ver. X.X" on the model sticker. Most JetStream switches will show "UN/X.X" and "VN1". Not helpful. The web admin interface will be the most clear answer. Sadly, most of us are likely getting the "1.0" version and not the "1.2" or "1.6" versions. I really wish TPLink would require the hardware version to be posted by resellers.

Does the TL-SG3428 support dynamic link aggregation?

The switch uses LACP to implement dynamic link aggregation and disaggregation by exchanging LACP packets with its peer device. LACP extends the flexibility of the LAG configuration

Is the tl-sg3428x switch plug and play? will it work like an unmanaged switch until it is configured?
