This is a great spool holder. The bearings roll smooth and give very little resistance. This is what you need if you have upgraded to direct drive. Holders with no bearings (or also the ones with stiff bearings) will leave layer line inconsistency which will be noticeable when you are after perfection. This is an original Creality spool holder and is smooth as butter. BONUS: I created and uploaded an adapter to be mounted on the top of the printer for those of us that prefer it that way. works great! glides smoothly and readily, inadvertently fixed another problem i didnt realize was being caused by the old, fixed spool holder, i would get sporadic and anomalous artifacts in my prints(under extruding) that went away after installing this, so my guess was that the spool would stick on the old spool axle momentarily effecting the feed rate, overall improvement for me.

Another review below mentions an adapter you can print - which I did so in white in order to put this spool holder into on an ender 5plus. It’s working fantastic! This products spool rolls on bearings and I found buying this easier than printing 15 parts to print one. It is sturdy, as shown in the picture, with a nearly full weight roll. I have ran it through 4 rolls at this point with no issues.

Not sure if the screws are too long or what but the 2.5 mm allen screws rounded off inside and got tight before the arm was even secured. So it wobbles. Recommend using washers to make the bolts shorter. It would be better if it hinged out of the way to make it easier to install it but it folds towards the bolts. Good for the price, but the hardware could be better. However it prevents my old brittle filament from breaking, before using this the 90 degree turn on the original design would cause it to break the filament right in the middle of a print. So now I can use my old filament that I was going to toss out.

I have the original ender 3... I was getting poor prints because the angle from the spool to the extruder was too sharp... This solved it.... Very smooth bearing operation... Connects directly into the ender frame... I should have gotten this years ago

Please Note: The bolts that come with the unit to attach it to the rail are rather small and ( more importantly ) the heads strip quite easily. I'd suggest tossing those and use the bolts that come with your existing reel holder. In my case they were chrome plated with heads twice the size of the included bolts. Using those I was able to secure the holder to the rail in a superior fashion. Once securely attached the unit worked admirably.
