I've tried formula first, mix a little at a time, what am I doing wrong?** A: I made the mistake of doing the formula first the first time I used it. It's just too much formula for the water to get in there and mix it up very well, so I always put the desired amount of water in first then add the formula. It might be slightly less precise that way, but it's still pretty close and does a great job of mixing. I guess if you're really worried about being precise you could put in about half the water, mix in the formula, then add the rest of the water and mix it some more. **Q: Can this pitcher be sterilized in boiling water for 10 min? I didn't see that guidance in the instructions and worry about boiling plastic.** A: Yes, when I first bought it we sterilized in a pot of hot water for 5-10 mins. Other than that, we rinse it with the Medela soap and hot water. I wouldn't recommend using the microwave or dishwasher as these things can break down the plastic. Of course, that is being a really anal parent. Every two weeks I sterilize it again within a pot of hot water but I never use the microwave or dishwasher. **Q: what is the capacity of the pitcher?** A: I purchased this pitcher for my daughter so I don't know for sure what the capacity is but I know she mixes formula for an entire 24 hours in it. It's a must have item to mix formula! Absolutely fantastic. She has twins and they are both on different formulas so we have 2 of them. Absolutely love them. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of best baby purchases ever! *by on Reviewed in the United States 27 June 2024* For a baby that had to be formula-fed - this is truthfully one of my best baby purchases ever. Got it for my daughter and her baby who have been staying with us for awhile. We both separately concluded that we love it. Easy to make a batch of formula for a day - we follow the directions and the formula mixes well with no clumps. Took a minute for us to understand the directions but then it was easy. Much easier than using a measuring cup and stirring or making formula one bottle at a time. We can make a batch for the day and pour into the bottles to store (we did this for the nighttime feeds) or during the day, we keep the pitcher in the fridge and pour into bottles as needed. This really helped us out as her daughter had to be every 2 hours during the day and every 3 at night. The size of the pitcher is a little smaller than a quart of milk so it doesn't take up too much fridge space. It can be put in the top rack of the dishwasher but we just usually put soap and hot water in it and spin it like we are mixing formula and it gets pretty clean. We also like that it can be sterilized. For how easy it makes preparing formula from powder and storing it and for how much it eases our mind that we prepared the formula correctly, we rate this one of our most appreciated baby purchases ever.
