Review: A messy dream to apply - This is my first ever plastering experience after about 8 months of research. I chose Vasari because they had excellent customer service when I called for technical support with application. I did exactly as they recommended with my shower (super clean, waterborne primer with Mapei Eco Prim Grip, elastomeric waterproof layer with RedGard.) I mixed a full bag according to the directions with bottled water because my municipal water has all kinds of minerals, iron, etc in there and didn't want to mess with the chemistry. I mixed everything in a brand new bucket and brand new egg beater mixer. Once mixed, I covered it and let it sit for about 2 hours before using it. After opening the lid to use it, I saw it went from a liquid to more of a jelly/mayonnaise consistency. After mixing it a bit with my bucket scoop, it loosened up, and I put it on my hawk. It was a dream to apply. Even though I dropped a bunch on the floor of my shower, I was going to plaster the floor anyway, so I just spread it around. It's definitely a learning curve and there's 100% a reason why professionals charge $40-60 per square foot to apply it. I learned a lot and can't wait to see the results after i do the Veneziano layers. Thanks Vasari for making an excellent product. All of our dry mixes are natural white limestone in color. Colorants are used to tint the plaster if desired. **Q: Can this product be used as a finished shower floor and placed over existing grouted tile in shower?** A: If it were me I would remove the grouted tile. All plaster is rigid by nature. Any movement will cause material to crack. Removing the tile should expose the cement float that was used to set your original tile. After removing any excess old grout and adhesive material remaining the shower floor should be ready to go. I would use the company's primer first then Master Coat then finish with Fine Coat product. Just remember! Always apply material in thin coats... **Q: Can this product be applied over existing tile?** A: Yes, however you first need to apply a bonding primer.
