Been waiting a long time for this old Newman Gem.

Love the movie

I think this is my favorite Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman’s best films! It showcases John O’Hara’s novel, quite well. I watched this in my teens and was captivated by all the actors in the movie. They seem very well-suited to their roles. I almost never write reviews, although I buy from Amazon constantly. Just one negative comment! Why is this movie 6x more expensive than others made in 1960??

Acting doesn't get any better than this cast -- Paul Newman (need I say more?) and Joann Woodward at their best. The actors nowadays cannot hold a candle to these actors who actually took acting classes while under contract to studios. These people actually had to act -- no cussing, swearing, nude scenes, racist remarks to carry the movie, it took a solid script and people who knew their lines and how to deliver them. Fantastic, intense drama. Good movie to watch on a snowy day with a cup of hot chocolate!!

Such a beautiful film from an era where aesthetics mattered. Stunning performance from Paul Newman. Cannot recommend strongly enough.

Did not realise overseas edition with Chinese writing on box.

I have been looking for this DVD in Zone 2 for a while now so I was delighted to find this version at a reasonable cost
