Elgato's HD60 S Game Capture Card records 1080p60 gameplay footage from PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles for live streaming and recording videos. Review: It just works (...well, for the most part) - It does work, however, with a couple of caveats. It will ONLY work in Windows 10 (some say 8 as well, but I can't nor will I verify that since I never liked Windows 8 anyway). Trying to get it working on Windows 7 just did not work at all. Still, in Windows 10, it works very well, with an aside. Whatever it is you're capturing MUST be turned on first. Maybe it's just my refurbed unit, but I must turn on the captured device first or else the video capture is a green screen with lines running vertically with no actual picture. Sound comes in, but no video. If you start the capture device first and then start the software, whether it be the Elgato software or OBS (or anything else that can grab the signal), it will work. If not, you have to restart the software to get the signal to produce an image. Other than that, it works perfectly. Been capturing video of Breath of the Wild from my Wii U and it's perfect. Quality is amazing, no input lag (when using OBS) and it just works. That's another thing: DO NOT USE ELGATO'S CAPTURE SOFTWARE! It's a bloated mess that will eventually introduce input lag. It worked fine the first couple of times, but after that, I got input lag and it was virtually unplayable when you need to time things properly, like Perfect Blocking in BotW. Use OBS or some other capture software instead. It's night and day. Other than that, it's perfect. I would have liked it to be compatible with Linux as well, but sadly, that's not the case. Still, if you don't mind using Windows 10 (and I do, but I have no choice if I want to use this) and you need something that's cheap, get a refurbed unit of this. I was afraid it would not work, but I've been using it almost daily since I got it and it's not failed me once. For the price, it's more than worth the hassle. Review: I Am Very Happy - I'd like to comment on two aspects of this review. One, is on the Elgato Game Capture device itself, and then on the aspect of buying a refurbished unit. First, I really wanted an excellent high quality device. I researched a number of cheaper options but reviews for those were all over the place. None of them were cheap, and I didn't want to spend a nice bit of cash on a bad one and then once again have to spend a lot to try another one. So after tons of research I finally bought the Elgato device. It has worked perfectly and exceeded my expectations with its ease of use. The software they provide did everything I needed, and to my surprise it was even easy to pull in chat recordings from Discord and add them to the video. I hadn't even expected that option so it was a pleasant surprise. The video looks and sounds great. I'm glad I didn't compromise here. However, I did compromise on the choice between new and refurbished. The thing that made me decide to take a leap was that the refurbished unit did have a warranty. At least in my case, it has worked great. I'm now over two months in to using the device regularly and I haven't run into any problems at all. I would hope that if I did they would be great about honoring the warranty, but it's ultimately better to never have to find out, which is what happened in my case so far. I'll update this review if something changes, but at this point in time I've a very happy consumer.

Like magic, it works. Perfectly.
Couple very very minor scratches (might have gotten them being repackaged for sale). No paper instructions at all, not a big deal because there is information on the Elgato web site. Worked just fine. Captured from three different inputs without issue. 1080p video captured was smooth and without a hitch. I was a little suspect being USB, as I use an internal card usually, but I needed portability and this works every bit as well. A pleasant surprise. Remember to install the Elgato Game Capture HD software before plugging the unit into your computer. I did not and windows was stuck installing the device forever. Reboot fixed that. Once the Game Capture HD software is installed you can pretty much plug and play. OBS works perfectly with this device, and the game capture software works fine also. For my purposes, I need to use OBS studio. Remember this unit is HDCP enabled -which means certain devices will not work such as a Chromecast (if you intend on using a Chromecast to capture a screen cast from a phone or laptop). You would need to buy a splitter that removes HDCP in order to do that. I do because I just don't want to deal with HDCP issues in general. As long as your computer has USB 3.0, and at least a 3rd gen i7, you should have no issues at all capturing video and/or streaming -that's the lowest processor I have to test with.

Working
I had to independently install the drivers - I did both HD60 and HD60 S - for the camera to register on Game Capture HD. And it works well. I dropped it from ~1.5' on accident, easier than you'd think with a light-weight external peripheral, and no problem. It does run a little warm, and no fan, so maybe keep a draft over it if you want it to live for long; these companies encourage us to fry their products (esp Apple - I drive with my iPhone stuck into the AC vent). I couldn't figure out how to get the microphone to go audio out via the "sound capture" software, and still haven't exactly, but it does show up if I click on "Commentary" in the Game Capture HD software. That's not so useful, as I'd prefer to do a 2-computer setup, with audio output combined via HDMI (a swell feature I'd not known about - a video cable with digital audio output, piped from an NVIDIA video card!). I can pull the microphone cord away so the headphones are fed from the gaming PC, and the mic is wired into the recording Laptop though. Apparently we'll have to buy a separate capture card if we want a little miniature of ourselves talking; still, the cost of a 4k capture device has come down a lot.

amazing value and it works.
it arrived as scheduled. it didn’t come in the original box but it was carefully bubble wrapped and it had all the cables. the product itself seemed in perfect condition, no scratches or any weird sounds inside the little box that could’ve indicated a loose component. the cables also seem to be good quality (probably the originals but if not who cares. they’re good) plugged it in and it worked flawlessly. you’re saving anywhere between $40 to $70 and only sacrificing the box (at least for me, some people apparently get the box too) the bottom line is that, in my experience, it was 100% worth it. (a lot of people write saying they’re having problems with sound. (make sure you google how to set it up. if you run into issues the most likely culprit is your set up and not the device.)

Best purchase on Amazon this year.
Came fast and in perfect condition, works perfectly. My son has been streaming on this for about a month and a 1/2 now with out issue. Stream quality is beautiful, and it only took 2 minutes to set up. Definitely would recomend to any streamer no matter the level of experience. If you would like to see the quality of a stream using this exact model, purchased from amazon go to my channel @bluesapphirenk. You dont have to follow, or like the videos, as this is not an advimertisment for him but it will at least allow those considering the purchase to see it in action. 5 stars on camera.... i wanted to be sure this is rated high, however it is a capture card, so there isnt a camera. 5 stars on tech support... installing the software for the elgato took maybe 5 minutes and very easy for non technical expert to install, trouble, shoot, and use.

Ease of use, very few compatibility issues
I cannot tell you how much easier this is to use than the other external capture cards I've used over the years. This still has it's buggy moments, but nothing compared to the Blackmagic Shuttles that this replaced. So much better than any other device I've used and I've used a lot.

Gran capturadora
