Great XMAS Gift for My Gardener
3 lbs. is the perfect size for this hammer. 4 lbs. would have been very wearing on the wrist. 2 lbs. felt just a little heavier than a regular full-sized hammer. My gardener absolutely loved it. Nicely made. Highly recommend.

A Hammer for nearly all occasions
In 1962 I bought one of these to take camping to hammer all sorts of things including rocks, concrete, asphalt, tent stakes, splitting wedges, large dowels and pins, serious roadside automotive repairs, etc. I've also used it a lot in construction and teardown projects. Recently I bought another for my son-in-law. It is great for all types of construction and home improvement projects. If you put up a stud wall and need to move it a bit, this is the tool. The short handle allows great control and can prevent a number of self-inflicted injuries. It is in-destructable. The handle and integrated head are all steel with some sort of miracle, plastic type material covering the handle and forming a comfortable grip. Of course, the price is more than double what I paid for it back in 1962, but it should last at least four or five generations--or more. It is case hardened and really can be abused. Don't drop it on your toes--it is 3 lbs. and can smart quite a bit. It also works well for blocking when you or someone else is hammering or pounding out something from the other side. There are others on the market but this is the original indestructable, all steel, small sledge hammer. Try one, you won't be sorry. And, be carefull about loaning it out--a well meaning friend just might forget to give it back!

Perfect power for busting up rocks to tumble.
Zero negotiation power. This 3lb sledge hammer works great with my weaker arms and busted up large rocks that my roofing hammer bounced off of.

The best
This is my 5th Estwing hammer that I own presently. I’ve owned others throughout the years that have “disappeared” because others value them as much as I do. Nowadays I work out of my shop so the tools stay in-house. This 3lb drilling/sledge is no exception to the outstanding quality I expect from Estwing. I put the protractor on the face of this and it’s squared right up at 90 degrees, unlike other reviews mention. The handle feels nice, with good grip, and USA etched in the grip. The overall look of the sledge is impressive. It’s a quality tool at a great price. Tools that will last forever from Estwing.

Awkward To Hold But Won’t Break
I wanted a forged hammer with enough weight to drive roof bolts and T posts in the garden. It’s awkward to hold due to the weight, but It knocks the posts in much faster and if I miss a hit and hit the handle it doesn’t break.

Good hammer. Perfect weight for tile demolition, driving stakes, etc. The estwing handles are great, no idea what they make them out of but they're very durable and comfortable.

Al menos en México no se ve un mazo como este 100 % metal , todos son mango de madera . Una herramienta imperdible en la caja de herramientas de un albañil
