The bendable gooseneck stays where you put it. And it has a great range of brightness with the 5 steps. The lowest setting is barely enough to see my keyboard in a pitch-dark room (which is exactly what I wanted so as not to annoy my sleeping spouse) and the brightest makes a decent flashlight. I also love the way it turns off directly from any of the brightness settings with a longpress. Then it remains at that setting when you turn it back on. This means you can keep it set at the brightness you like and you don't have to cycle through all 5 settings every time if you don't want to. Perfect! At this price, if it lasts for a while, I might have to get a whole bag full of these.I'd also like to commend the seller for NOT flooding the comments with a bunch of fake 5-star reviews. That is such an annoying trend for small electronic gizmos like this. Every time I buy anything from Amazon anymore, I run the product URL through "fakespot dot com". I absolutely love it. I cannot speak to it's longevity yet because I just got it. It arrived quickly. It is exactly as advertised but exceeds my expectations. It has 5 levels of brightness and can be turned off while plugged in. It's simplicity is one of it's best qualities. It's bendy but also holds itself however you want it. The different levels of brightness are great, from dim to very very bright. I am using it primarily for my laptop keyboard at night. I am super excited to also be able to plug it into my USB extension cord and plug it into the wall, car, or a power pack. Great product for the price. Highly recommend it. I typically use it with a USB battery pack. I originally purchased a white one to use the dim light for getting ready in the morning without a bright light, and it was totally awesome! Sadly, I lost it, so I purchased this one which works just as great! I've actually used it a lot whenever the power goes out! It hardly uses any power, so my battery pack lasts a super long time!
