Works with XFinity, speeds are what I expect. Not trivial to setup with a Wifi Router.
I dislike "renting" HW from a internet supplier. In my new place, Xfinity was my only option. While I had problems with Comcast 10+ years ago, with no other options I was hoping things had improved. This modem works exactly as expected. When Xfinity came out to setup my service, the modem came up and I was able to plug in and get internet access with the tech here. Simple. One ethernet port and no Wifi, but a good price. However, I wanted to use my slightly older Netgear Nighthawk D7000 Wifi-Router as my primary connection into the house. It took calls to Netgear, Arris, and Xfinity before I found the right set of steps to get everything working. Not well documented, and none of the helpdesks could do much to get me working. While I reset things so many time across two days, I believe the right steps were: - Arris up and working (can see internet with a hardwired PC) - Cable from Arris to Nighthawk "Internet/Wan" port - Cold boot router - PC to ethernet port on router - Navagate to 192.168.0.1 (Nighthawk admin page) - Netgear Genie comes up, let it do its thing (10+ minutes) I had to have everything up before I could use 192.168.100.1 to get to the arris modem page, but it turned out that this modem is simple enough that the only thing I did when I got there was turned off all the the LEDs (blue and bright). I would hope other routers would come up easier. 5-stars for the modem (after the setup pain). I'm getting full speed and things have been solid.

Works well so far
I purchased a refurbished unit to save money and my two concerns were whether or not it had truly been refurbished and not just resold, and second was that I would have a hard time registering it with Comcast as it might still be listed under Comcast as in use by someone else. It turns out that I did have difficulties getting it connected to Comcast but not for the anticipated reasons. To set up a new Cable modem the Comcast process was that I download an app to my phone and follow the procedure in the app, which was where I entered the MAC address of the new modem. But the app failed to function properly and I had to pay bloody hell trying to work through Comcast's support system. I worked as a lab assistant at Scientific Atlanta back in 94 &95 when this stuff was being invented so I knew exactly what needed to happen to fix the problem but I had an extremely difficult time getting in touch with someone who could do what I asked. At one point Comcast wanted me to wait 3 days for someone to come out to may house and fix the problem. At which point I was nearly yelling at the Comcast people trying to get them to work outside their troubleshooting "menu"/"flow chart". Once I finally did get connected to a person with the appropriate skills/knowledge the problem was resolved in a couple of minutes. The modem has performed perfectly ever since. I hope it continues to do so for years to come. I can still get a little upset at the Comcast person who insisted that I should wait 3 days to have a service person come to my house so I could finally have a working internet!!! **UNBELIEVABLE**

Four stars because it took Xfinity about an hour to provision it.
I'm on a limited budget. Gut I got a faster speed from Xfinity at a lower price so a new modem was needed. I got a "renewed" unit at a good price. I've been dealing with networks since 1988, so I'm not unfamiliar with the process. I did the heavy lifting on my end, which wasn't very difficult at all. Anyone with even a modicum of experience with home networking will have no problem. Some people say the phone app is a pain, but it did help. Then on to the Xfinity app. After three attempts and waiting for an hour I called support. I got a pretty nice person who was well versed in setups, and even he had a hard time provisioning it, but after about 50 minutes I was able to log into the Xfinity site. I'm not quite getting the speeds I should be, but I also have my network locked down pretty hard. But I can run 3 TVs, two devices running the SXM app, and browse with no glitches. If it had provisioned with the Xfinity app, it would have been 5 stars, but there hasn't been a modem yet I haven't had an issue with Xfinity, including their own.

No faster than the 16x4 version.
I bought this modem because my ISP claimed my existing modem was defective. But the problem turned out to be in their wiring. Never trust your ISP, especially if the support is outsourced to people you can barely understand. Suddenlink, (now calling itself Optimum) is by far the worst telecommunications provider I’ve ever worked with in over 30+ years. I've dealt with everything from giant conglomerates to tiny mom-and-pop telcos, and Optimum wins the award for absolute worst–by far. This is a quality modem, but just because it’s 32x8 won’t make it run faster than a 16x4. Using more frequencies doesn’t give a better connection or improved reliability. So I went back to using my old reliable 16x4 version of this modem. I did add fans for either side to help it run cooler, though. (see photo) You shouldn't believe reports that claim modems last only a few years – that’s nonsense. Take good care of it, and it should last a long time. By that I mean, keep it cool! Most electronic equipment has insufficient cooling, imo. But add a little fan or two, and it will keep going and going. (I bought my fans on Amazon, of course!!) I own many “refurbished“ modems, routers, and even computers. Over the years, I’ve saved a bundle doing that, and never regretted it. For most electronics, if it works well for 30 days, it will likely keep working for years. Buying directly from Amazon, I know I’ll get my money back if anything goes wrong during those first 30 days. The 16x4 version of this modem is no longer available, so I highly recommend this 32x8 one. I’ve had no problem getting over 500Mbps with 16x4, so this one should work great, too. If you’re considering getting a DOCSYS 3.1 instead of 3.0, first make sure your ISP fully supports it. You could be paying extra money for nothing. My ISP claims 3.1 compatibility, but that’s just marketing hype. Years ago, they announced they would never support 3.1 features. If your ISP doesn’t *guarantee* to *fully* support all 3.1 features, you can confidently assume they don’t, and probably never will. Replacing their equipment to be fully compatible with DOCSYS 3.1 costs a lot of money, but marketing hype is free. Love Amazon!!!

Works as intended
Came in a brown box, hooked it up, it sync'd with the ISP, then bounced (rebooted) once, then had no issues. The one restart was the ISP pushing firmware for this model of modem. Don't let people tell you otherwise, it's your ISPs responsibility to push the firmware for the modem on initial connection, otherwise your modem will not get the settings it needs for your account. If it was the users responsibility to flash their modems with the ISP provided firmware, that would allow users to modify the firmware and create issues on the ISP network. People need to stop bullshitting. Nothing much to say about the performance, really. Comcast is a damn monopoly out here and the speed really sucks, so, I can't comment on the top speed of the modem. Generates a decent amount of heat, so, make sure the modem has good ventilation, or the hardware will reboot itself. It's basically a mini-computer and the hardware has thermal limits, just like your big boy PC. A lot of people are saying that they are having issues with this either out of the box, or some time down the road, so I am reserving the right to change this review at a later time, should this issue occur to me. I will annotate the review to allow readers to know that it's been edited and when.

It works very well
The ARRIS SB6190 worked well with xfinity internet in the end. Had to have a technical call with xfinity, where I told xfinity the modem mac number and they registered the modem on their end manually. The xfinity app adding-your-own-router option just doesn't work no matter how many times I try. I had brief issue that xfinity redirects Google check internet status requests to its own internet page as if I didn't pay for the internet service, making my Android based TV thinking the internet is not working. That issue was solved by having a chat with the chat bot to reset something on their end and the modem on my end. The chat bot is not smart but does get things done like resetting something technically or get a tech support to call you. The modem supports my internet package of 200Mb download and 10Mb upload nicely. Make sure your ethernet cable is well connected, otherwise you may stuck at 100Mb mode like I did at first, which resulting maximum 90Mb download when I run any speed test tool, glad it not the issue with the modem but just my cable connection, any legit CAT 5e cable would work well. PS: I am switching from a NETGEAR C6300BD, which has a issue that it will get stuck when the power flicker for a second, resulting loosing internet unless manually unplug and plugin the power to the modem. That issue causes serious accessibility issue as nowadays even my garage needs wifi to operate.

Works well. Avoid the Arris app. For Xfinity, just add MAC address to the Xfinity App.
My internet was restored easily with this modem. I did not have to talk to anyone at Xfinity and everything could be done by myself. However, the quickstart card asking me to install the Arris app and wasting my time was infuriating. My old cable modem suddenly died and Amazon was able to get this to me the next day. Really saved me a lot of time and money. The process for Xfinity was to add the MAC address printed on the bottom in the Xfinity app. Then, it worked and the front lights turned blue for the middle two and light white on the top and bottom. Xfinity app is now also able to confirm that it is able to see the modem as well. Be careful of the Arris app. You actually don't need it but the quick start says download the app. It requires you to turn on location (for bluetooth) but this model SB6190 does not have bluetooth. It also requires all the permissions (even notifications) before they will even start. It also requires you to create a new account to even use the app. It is really maddening and hopefully you can just skip the app. Overall, great hardware and terrible app methods to get customer data.
