What type of dna test is this? Y, mitochondrial, etc?

This test is an autosomomal STR test. Autosomal STR testing is the type of test that is used for DNA identity and relationship. Y-DNA testing is used for tracing male lineage to investigate male ancestry or to see if males descended from the same male lineage. mtDNA testing is for tracing maternal lineage to investigate maternal ancestry, or to rule out whether individuals descended from a common maternal lineage. If you are interested in Y-DNA or mtDNA testing, you will need to order it from the Genetrace laboratory website. Please note that only males have Y-DNA so only males can take the Y-DNA test. If the question is regarding paternity or relationship, the correct test type is the autosomal STR test, which is the type of test which is used for all of the relationship test kits.

What if the aunt has a different father will it still work?

The DNA Aunt test is for testing the Alleged Father's full sibling (same mother and father) against the child. The DNA Aunt test is not intended for the Alleged Father's half sibling.

Can this be used for cousins?

The DNA Aunt/Uncle test is for determining whether an alleged aunt or uncle is the biological aunt or uncle of a nephew or niece. This test should only be considered in situations where the alleged father is unavailable for testing. Whenever the alleged father or alleged parent is available for testing, the DNA Paternity test is recommended over the DNA Aunt/Uncle test as the DNA Paternity test is far more powerful and will always provide conclusive results. In cases where cousins need to be tested, the correct test to order is the DNA Cousin test, which is also available.

Does this work for my father's half brother (they share the same father)?

The DNA Uncle test is intended for a full uncle, not a half uncle (father's half brother).
