Low Cost Device Saves So Much Time and Money!
This is a cheap, simple device that has saved my family money and trouble. Our fridge has an "inverter" which is prone to failing when there's a power surge. TWICE our inverter burned out due to a surge in a period of four years. Getting the repair folks out took time and when they lost the part (it finally came two months after repair reordered the part), we were without our upstairs fridge for SIX weeks. I asked a local repair guy if a surge protector like this could help and he wasn't sure, but said to try it. Over the six years since we got this incredibly useful piece of equipment, it's protected our inverter from one or two surges per year. After two repairs in four years, we've had NONE in six. I'm NOT handy, but I was easily able to install it and it just sits behind the fridge and does its job. Six weeks without a fridge was a pain, so this device is worth many times its already reasonable price. The power outage hits and the fridge goes out. Then when the power surges back on...the fridge stays dark for several minutes to avoid the surge. Perfect.

Peace of mind with real verifiable results
I bought one for my refrigerator in PR years ago. It is well known that we have serious voltage and outage problems with PR's electric grid. This surge protector has worked miraculously and our refrigerator has never suffered a break down, despite what is going on around us. So when my Florida refrigerator's ice maker broke down due to an electric surge, immediately reached for my phone and ordered a new one from Amazon. Now I have peace of mind. Just wish they made one for the electric range. Need it.

Great Design
Other protectors cover or obscure the unused outlet of a two-outlet wall receptacle. This Pipeman's ProtectX-RF goes into the upper outlet allowing use of the lower. I purchaed two, and have they each have endured several tests with a desk lamp to assure proper working condition. This is an older design that is the better option in my opinion. And boy, here's a shocker .... it's made in China. Nonetheless, I am comfortable with the physical quality - not cheaply made. And, I like the longer delay (4 minutes) if power is interrupted.

Works like a charm.
We lost our last fridge to a storm/spike. We have a lot of trees in the area and branches will fall across the primary wires. I installed this spike protector when our new fridge arrived. A recent snow fall caused a voltage interruption that fluctuated and caused the lights to flicker rapidly. This was exactly the thing that took out our previous fridge. This time the spike protector isolated the fridge for 4 minutes before re-closing to bring the refrigerator back on line, avoiding the damaging fluctuation. Amazing for the price point. I’m a retired utility worker and I’ve worked with equipment that did the same thing for thousands more. I highly recommend this because I’ve seen it work.

Has always worked for me.
I have 2 of these, one for my freezer downstairs and one for my refrigerator. I have had mine for about a year now and have had the power go out several times. Once just last week when a neighbors huge tree downed the power lines for 6 hours. I had the power go out yesterday to....twice due to a thunderstorm. Both of mine kill the power for 4 minutes and cycle back on fine every time. No issues. I'm not sure why other's have had a problem with their's. I suggest you do like one customer did here....shut off the breaker when you first get it and see if your's is defective. Also, never use these or plug a refrig or freezer onto an outlet with a ground fault. No regular surge protector will hold the power off for a few minutes that I know of....that's why I bought mine. I gave it 4 starts because the jules rating is a little lame.....but it does keep the power off, which protects the compressor. Remember, this is for a refrig or freezer that only pulls 10 amps at full load and 1,800 watts. If you plug this in the top outlet you can use the other one, but that's always a bad idea. Your freezer and probaly your refrigerator should be on a dedicated 15 and breaker. I used to have my toaster over on the same circuit as my old refrigerator. When I would make toast and the refrigerator was running I could hear the compressor tone down and strain. Not good....the compressor went bad in 6 years. And BTW...all compressors are made in China now, and that includes the ones in your air conditioners. I have an old upright Kelvinator freezer that I've had for 20 years and is still going strong because the compressor was made in the USA. I suggest getting one of these for every refrigerator & freezer you have and testing it first. If it's bad send it back. Also check the amp draw on your appliance first. I also suggest getting one of these if you have a garage door opener. My last one was killed in a storm because the solid state board went bad. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JGI9SA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00 Here is a outlet surge protector that that has over 1,400 jules, but it does not cycle off: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000510R4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00

Electrical Issues Begone!
I purchased this protector for our Frigidaire unit that was less than 3 years old. We'd had several issues caused by repeated power surges over the winter; the final time it was causing problems with the control panel and main board getting stuck in repetitive loops causing surging and pulsing noises, and the compressor having constant reset issues. The duplex we live in doesn't have a proper isolated line that can handle newer, larger refrigerators, so I purchased this hoping it would help isolate the worst of the problems and prevent future repair calls (our warranty is good for two more years, but who wants the hassle). I couldn't be more happy with the results. Ever since installing the surge protector, not so much as one extra peep from the fridge - no more resets, no more pulsing, and everything stays just the right temperature, all of the time. Even if you don't seem to have any issues at this time, this $16 component is worth having to eliminate the risk. Even if you have a dedicated line, get one, and protect the investment of a new appliance from the start. You'll be relieved you did it.
