worked great, easy to install, no modifications necessary
My old converter (p/n 8955PEC) failed. I found it under my fridge, under the breakers and fuses. 2018 flagstaff 831 bhds. I noticed something was wrong when my slide would barely pull itself in to close up the camper. I opted to spend more on the WFCO brand since other converter reviews were a little bit sketchy. It came the next day and cost $217. The wires were the correct length, size, and color. They were the same as the original one that failed. The wire ends were crimped with covers to contain the stands of wire, except for the white and green wire on the input side of the converter (left side in photo). The right side has the heavy gauge white and red wire for the DC output. My battery (lead acid, Interstate brand) was charging at 13.4 volts with the new converter. The new converter mounting was perfect. I didn't need to modify the holes. This converter should be able to pick up what type of battery you have and adjust the charging profile. This is according to the manufacture WFCO. The heavy wires on the right-hand side pass through a hole in the cabinet and then behind the green circuit board with all the fuses. This board slides up under to fingers on the top and clips at the bottom in one spot. I just pushed down on the bottom clip, and the board came out easily so I could run the wires from the new unit behind it. I tightened the screws as much as I could with a screwdriver handle tool (using #2 square bits) and called it good. Of course, you need to disconnect the shore power and the battery to make sure there is no power to the electrical components before doing this job. Bust out your Fluke meter and verify there is no power!! Safety first! All in all, it probably took me 50 minutes to do the job. It's easy. So, if you have this issue with your converter not charging your battery, check YouTube for some videos of other possible causes as to why your converter may not be working and change it yourself if necessary. The dealer wanted $300+tax for the unit. I'm guessing the labor from the dealer was probably another couple hundred dollars. Happy camping!

Good quality.
Replaced a converter that was only for lead acid. Auto detect seemed to work as advertised.

Auto Detect for LiFePO4 chemistry
Install super easy. Wish the DC leads were an inch or two longer though, they would have dressed more nicely if a little longer. Auto detect was a little fiddly but it did work if you follow the instructions. Had to completely discharge my new LiFePO4 200Ah battery so there was 0V coming out of it. Installed the new converter, turned on the AC, battery went into Lead/Acid, high current charging mode (green and red LEDs). Following the instructions, I removed AC power for a few seconds and turned it back on. Within 4-5 seconds the Green LED turned off, the Blue LED turned on (LiFePO4 detected), red LED was still lit indicating high current output. Logged into my battery BMS and the BMS was indicating 56-57 amps coming in (high current mode for sure). Since the converter is only a 55 amp DC supply I was pleasantly surprised to see more than the rated current coming in to charge my battery. High current mode only runs for 4 hours, but since I have a 200ah battery, 4 hours was just enough to get the BMS to indicate 99% state of charge after a charge cycle. i sold the lead/acid converter I took out of the trailer on an auction site for $60 to help offset the cost of this new converter.

It works but took a bit to get it to recognize battery type
I bought this to make the switch from agm to lithium so I could charge my batteries correctly. At first I had the same problem as many. I turned on every light, fan and anything else that drew of of the DC current. This instantly made it switch over. Is charging my battery consistently and was easy to install. I also moved my battery into the camper and bought cable that I wired up into my electric panel in my camper. Works great. Takes about an hour of running my generator to get a full charge.

(NOT UPDATED to firmware version 1.19)
I (like many others looking for this converter) have updated my camper to a battle born 100ah lithium battery. After talking to WFCO about updating they said that I would need the updated converter with the 1.19 version for the battery to “auto detect” the lithium battery and switch from lead acid battery mode to the lithium mode. The only supplier that I could find of the 8955-AD-MBA auto detect was Amazon. I purchased the “updated” version hoping that it was the one with the 1.19 firmware version, since Amazon support would not tell me if it was or not. (Unless I purchased it first, dumb). I received it, and sure enough it was not updated. WFCO tech support said that it needed to have a sticker on it saying 1.19, mine did not. WFCO tech said that it should still work anyway with the battleborn battery. I tried to get it to “auto detect” lithium for a week and also while on the camping trip, both with shore power (Regular 110 house outlet) and with my very capable generator. I had to run the generator for at least four hours a day while camping (since it was only charging in Lead Acid battery mode) just to keep us above water and not losing full power for our 12v fridge. On the last morning I gave up and my final attempt was to let the percent of battery go down to 4% remaining, (WFCO says down to 10% to get it to switch) kicked the generator on, let the light turn green and the red charge light startup, and then flipped the main power breaker off and back on, and the light finally turned blue. After all of that, and lots of celebrating, the lithium finally started charging at 50 amps (up until it reached 50% capacity and the charge rate dropped substantially to 13amps) Now, come to find out, the converter is still not letting the battery take the full charge and has never reached the “balancing” 14.2 v even when it’s in lithium mode.. So, even though I got it to switch to lithium mode, it’s still not doing what it’s supposed to be doing.. I followed all of the YouTube recommendations from WFCO and all of their advice exactly. I drained my battery over four different times (down to 20%, down to 10%, down to 8% and finally down to 4%), waisted a week of my life and hours of frustration on this conversion. My recommendation, if you want to convert to Lithium, give yourself plenty of time before camping and be ready for a lot of stress. The “auto detect” option from WFCO, in my opinion, is a joke. I am still waiting to hear back from WFCO and will update this post as I move forward.

Works and easy to install if you know something about electrical
So far this has worked great. I replaced the old one in my 2008 Keystone Passport. Install consisted of 5 wires. Just take the old one out, and put the new wires back in the same spot. 6 screw total to get the old unit out. Getting the wires fed behind the old board and getting everything to fit just so was a little tricky, but not bad at all.

Easy to swap out
The converter was easy to install, straightforward and it appears to work fine charging the batteries up. Mine was the same size and the same 5 wires. When first turned on, the cooling fan ran full time, but the next day it stopped, so don’t be alarmed, it’s on while charging your batteries. The only issue I had was not getting questions answered from the manufacturer, so Don’t expect any tech support from WFCO .I emailed them 3 times and called 1 time with no reply. I get the impression they don’t want to deal with “do it yourself” end users.

Best out of a bad situation
Part came quickly, didn’t work out of the box but exchange for new was just as quick as receiving the first one. No issues with the exchange. Appreciate the cooperation they had, assisting with my situation. Would order from them again.

So far so good.
My daughter bought a travel trailer and then discovered that the batteries weren't charging and the fridge didn't work if the batteries dropped below 12.8V even when plugged into shore power. The fellow she purchased it from must have charged the batteries before she viewed it so the fridge worked. He claimed he was a mechanical engineer and it appears he decided the solution was a solar panel, controller and inverter which he had not yet installed.I quickly identified the problem as the control board. This is OEM replacement however is an upgrade, to identify and charge lithium batteries as well as LA. It took less than 10 minutes to replace it and her system works perfectly now. Through Amazon it was about $200 cheaper than the RV dealer price. Now we just have to install the nice solar charger and she is ready for anything.

Seems to be the real deal
I was skeptical purchasing this based on the half good half bad reviews but couldn’t find it for sale straight from the manufacturer. I read the most recent review sept 2025 and his was a knock off based on info from manufacturer. The charger I received, based on picture and description from his review, is the real deal. It has the nodes he described on upper left, it has a green unit instead of the yellow he described on the lower right side. Also the unit is sealed with original tape and box you’d expect from manufacturer. I haven’t had a chance to install it yet but will update this review once I have.

Counterfeit WFCO converter board
Customer BEWARE.This converter board is counterfeit. WFCO tech support advises that the auto detect pins are missing from the board so the unit will not auto detect ( upper left on the board). Also, the yellow capacitor ( far right in pic) Genuine WFCO boards will have green capacitors. It will likely work ok for standard battery charging but WILL NOT detect Li batteries which is specifically what i bought the unit for. Very disappointing. Luxselect - shameful display.
