Whereas the handles that came on my Apex G5 would bind, twist and rub against my arms under load, these are silky smooth, even while supporting a fair amount of weight (Im about 290 pounds, typically add 20 to 40 pounds of extra weight, and perform some exercises with the incline at the highest angle). These dont flex or bend, and the rolling action under heavy load still seems great. These have tremendously improved the quality of my workouts and have allowed me to attempt exercises that I never would have in the past. If youre still on the fence about these, dont be. I plan on using these for low-rows and pull downs.** A: If you are using them pn the total gym you should be fine. I dont know if they have a weight capacity. As the total gym uses a percentage of your weight depending on your setting. I like them for both exercises as the handle gives you better movement **Q: will these support your whole weight? like i was thinking of using it for pull ups (attached to the ceiling).** A: This is my best guess: Since the resistance (weight) that a total gym exercise provides is a calculation of your body weight vs the angle of the gym, I would not feel comfortable putting any more strain on the attachment handles than the max user weight of the machine. For example, according to the TG resistance charts for a unit with 12 levels, a 250 lb user translates to a max of 120 lbs of resistance- so that’s what the handles are designed to hold. That said, I am 250 lbs, plus I add up to an additional 150 lbs in plate attachments on the TG weight bar for certain exercises. So, that means the strain I’m putting on the handles is that much greater, and I’m still within the 400lb user weight max of my TG fit. So, while I do not think the handles are designed to hold someone of my weight in a dead-hang like a pull-up, perhaps you could try it if you are lighter. All that said, I still think you’d be better off purchasing a product that is specifically designed to be mounted for pull-ups, rather than a modified use case for this type of handle. I was concerned that these handles would be thin and weak but they are very thick and strong. The handles have improved my exercises in several ways, they feel heavily sturdy during use, they have given my hands stability, my exercises are now more evenly balanced and better executed. I am also free of the annoying squeaking and grinding noises that the original plastic/fabric handles made, the chrome handles have been relatively quiet.
