The dimensions stated must not be in inches! I ordered 2 for towels hooks and they are half the size stated! What's the deal with that?

Yes they are different...the dimensions are about 2 1/4 in X 2 1/4 in. Luckily that works for me but the dimensions should be corrected.

What is the width of the base plate in inches? I've seen several different answers. I am looking for something at least 3" wide.
