A pair can easily support your books - I have 300 lbs of granite supported with 3 supports.

What is the measurement of the ‘hole’ in each one?

I’m not sure of measurements but yes a curtain rod would fit

Can i use this on ceramic subway tile?

You mount it from the back, so if you used a ceramic drill bit and put in the right screw I guess so. Just watch cracking the tile if you use the wrong bit.
