I think these things look best if you got the whole trim cover set for your vents, face cover, etc... They have a little space at the bottom, showing the factory silver beneath, but once I got the other trim pieces surrounding them, they covered them right up. Not perfect if you're just getting these pieces, but good if you're planning to get more trim covers.

I have always disliked the gray plastic trim in my FJ. When I saw these, I was ready to order the entire set. Luckily, I ordered the cheapest parts first to review. I fully understood that they may not be a perfect fit, but the matte black looked nice. The carbon fiber ones seem to be wrapped in vinyl, which would take a light scratch. But the matte black ones, to my dismay when opening the box are not wrapped, but they are made out of GRAY plastic, just like the existing, then spray painted black. Anyone knows that spray paint on plastic, the slightest scratch will be easily visible. These are plastic, why in the world wouldn't they make these from BLACK plastic? That would lessen the visibility of potential scratches. I couldl have spray painted mine myself if I knew this. I think that is just poor quality and lazy fabrication. Use black plastic and I will purchase all of your other FJ trim covers.

The coverage is not 100%, however if you grab a can of Matt Black paint and spray the original pieces before, it comes out perfect. Also I removed the double side tape and carefully applied super glue for a permanent hold.
