A sturdy book with split pages that gives children hands-on practice in making lots and lots of words. Designed with spiral bound binding, the pages are split into two sets of flip over pages, allowing the children to flip the pages over and discover new words. Flip Flap Phonics is designed to develop skills in blending sounds together to make words and to help children identify rhyming patterns in real and nonsense words. It can also be used as a valuable teaching aid and a focus point for blending sounds and reading words in small groups. Review: The reading tool we've been waiting for!! - My 4 year old son has known the alphabet and recognized letters/letter sounds for a couple years now. He had no problem with that. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to help him understand that those letters/sounds actually fit together and make the words we read. Night after night we would try simple phonics books and I could tell it just wasn't clicking. He has always been very good at memorizing books and I noticed that's what he would do in an effort to "trick" me into thinking he was reading. Finally, I ordered this book and it all became clear to him!! He follows the dots at the bottom and uses the pictures for reference if he is unsure of himself on letter sounds. He was reading 3 and 4 letter words by himself the FIRST DAY I opened this book. Thank you, thank you!! This is a wonderful teaching tool!! Tip: Some letter combinations are tricky (like "ch"). There are fun Letterland spelling stories that explain the sounds these make. For example, "Clever Cat sneezes 'ch!' beside Harry Hat, because his hairy hat tickles his nose" - this gets them to associate the "ch" sound with the "ahchoo" of a sneeze. So helpful! Review: Finally received and love it - For some reason I received notification that my order was delivered March 7 but never actually received the product until today- March 10th! Anyway, we started using the flip book immediately and my kids quickly got the concept. I'm hoping this will help my 7 yr old daughter who is cognitively impaired to be able to read, as well as my 3 yr old son, who is a precocious reader, to learn phonics rather than whole words! Thank you!

A must have companion with the Letterland program!
Wonderful companion to the Letterland program. Has helped my son tremendously with letter sounds and sight words. A night and day difference since school ended!! Shows text with and without the Letterland characters. It made reading and sounding out words come to life for my child. So grateful for these products!

Flipping through word families.
This is something I wanted for my Kindergarten class when I teach Letterland. Since schools work on a budget, I bought this myself and my students love it.

Helpful for teaching reading
The child I am teaching to read loves the letterland characters. This book is increasing his fluency and building the word families that he can read.

Just what I need.
I used the Flip Flap Phonics book with my class when I was teaching. I've now retired from teaching and, knowing how much the children at school it enjoyed and how much it helped them with phonics and word building, I wanted my own copy to use with my grandchildren. It's still every bit as good as I hoped for!

Really fun way to help children learn to read
Super pictures, and sensible and nonsense words to make up which is such fun. Would recommend.

Does the job
It’s really good however I just wish some of the pictures where better and more child friendly.. for example there is a boy and a nail for n and the boy confuses my girls as they’re are liken for boy. Then there is a teacher..? I’m guessing for t why not have a teddy bear or something? Other than that after arguments with my 3 and 4 year old about n it’s great.
