About how long does it take until the weiners and buns ready to eat?

Hot dogs take about 20 mins.... buns a little less, maybe 7-10 min... it steams quickly!

Can you steam hot dogs in the bun warming tray?

I haven’t steamed them in the warming tray, but I have transferred them there after steaming so I could start the next batch. It keeps them hot and allows the next batch to steam.

can it be battery operated?

As Josh said it's possible to use a battery powered inverter to power that device. This steamer is a simple resistance heated appliance. I typically use an inverter and large lithium battery with an inverter. For example I have built 2000 watt batteries and I have a pure sine wave inverter so I could easily keep the steamer running flat out for well over three hours. When I go to pot luck dinners I use a battery and inverter to keep the slow cooker hot. It's 2018 and lithium batteries, size 18650s are 10 watts each and 300 of them easily fit in a project box which is a portable power source.

How many watts does this machine use. Someone posted 110watts, but I'm worried they are confused with volts. What is the wattage required? Thanks

Watt is NOT equal to voltage. If y'all don't know the answers , just keep quiet. Persons who use this item with a portable generator must know the wattage so that they do not blow out the breaker. This item uses 600 wats at 110 volts .
