The Shimido Upgraded Retractable Automatic Door Closer exceeded my expectations. It's durable, well-made, exactly as described, simple to install for anyone, along with a money saver. My security storm door needed a new retracting device for automatic closure which priced at seventy bucks for my type of door, this was ridiculous and out of my budget. I'm a loyal fan of Amazon and tend to spend four plus hours daily browsing and shopping then to my surprise I came across the Shimido Upgraded Retractable Automatic Door Closer this was on my top five list of 2026 Amazon purchases this year. I love how easy the door automatically retracts not to fast without a loud slamming noise when my door closes. The longevity of this product has a positive outlook for my needs. This product is simple to install, easy to fit your needs and make your life simplier.

My front door, if not closed, wants to automatically open by nature of where our foundation is. It's super annoying. I don't want to lock the door every time I leave to go outside. I grabbed these and they work perfectly for what I needed. It doesn't slam shut or anything, just pulls it back to where it should be. Super easy to use, though it does stick straight ot the wall so when it popped off like mine did aftre a couple of year, it took the paint with it.

This product was purchased to hold open window awnings. The awnings where 1/2 plywood in a 20x20 square. This is not the purpose of the item and it did not work. My suggestion is to only use the items as intended and you should be very pleased. These devices are very well built and I firmly believe they would work closing a screen door or barn door style door. The cabling is sturdy and the retraction mechanism would easily handle a hollow core door or screen door. I also believe they would be a great way to hold an interior door closed to prevent cats and small dogs from opening the door. The items where retuned by UPS 3 days after receipt. AS of 1/18/25; 3 weeks after returning I still have not seen the credit to my account. This maybe an issue with Amazon billing or Shimido shipping and receiving or accountings. Please see this as objective. The closures will work just fine for the advertised purpose. I might suggest getting a small coffee cup hook instead of the glue on hooks that are provide.

It honestly wasn't bad however it does have a life span and you might need to use multiple on one door but it works well.

This is SUPER dangerous. I used this to try and keep our bedroom door closed because its impossible to replace the broken locks in the doors (landlords won't change them) but the wire for this is super strong, and its TIGHT. Like it 10 year old would definitely not be able to push the door open if this were attached. It also retracts the wire SUPER fast. So on top of not being able to push it open when srt up, and it closing lightning fast...theres no way I could have used thisnfor anything. I wanted to return it, but I lost them in my car when trying TO return them at whole foods and now its too late, and I found them again. But yeah, 100% would not recommend

It works, but I wish it was slower. I used it on the door, and it helps keep it shut. However, when I open the door and let it do its job, it slams it shut. Also, I ordered “white,” but it’s definitely “light purple.”

I read the reviews and already knew some people felt it wasn’t strong enough to pull sliding glass doors fully closed. After I installed mine, I could see the delay in my door not closing right away. My suggestion: use a little WD-40 on the top and bottom tracks. That made a huge difference, and now it works like a charm.

We got this for my mother-in-law’s bedroom. She has a separate heating system from the rest of the house and I don’t want her leaving the door open and letting out either the heating or the air conditioning. This has worked great. It’s got a decent amount of resistance, but it’s not too hard for her to open the door. She’s 89 and tiny. One of the pieces is just glued on and it’s been amazingly sturdy. I’m surprised. Great product. Had it for about two months. I hope it holds up.

Been mounted on sliding fly screen security door for six months still going strong. Secured the screw mounts rather than the sticky pads after reading other reviews.

The indoor cat had learned to open the sliding screen door. This has enough pull/spring to it that he hasn't figured out how to get out. On one door I had to adjust where I put the hook on the door (had to move it to middle of top door rail instead of right near the spring box, to prevent rubbing on door jamb) but then it worked great. On another door I had to put a spacer block (scrap wood) behind the spring box (again to avoid rubbing on door jamb), but it's easy to rig it to fit if you're reasonably handy. I also like that it's very easy to unhook when I don't want the automatic closer attached. Very happy!
