I have taken the filter out and cleaned it before. Easy to replace filter and works well as cleaner and deionizer. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worth the extra money if you need really clean air. *by M***0 on December 29, 2017* As always, this filter works great in my Alen Air Purifier. On my return this summer from my lake house, I became extremely sick within days and was bedridden. As I became sicker to the point of not being able to barely breath and going to my doctor, the hospital, urgent care and back to my doctor for next several months,, I found out what was causing the problem. My house had gotten damp and the basement and everything in it was covered in mold and there were mold spores all through the house. The first thing I did was send for a new Alen filter. I closed off my living room and ran the Purifier on high for days. I only left the room when absolutely necessary. We had the basement cleaned out and sent to the dump and we had the basement sprayed from top to bottom with something to destroy all mold and mold spores. The Purifier cleaned the air in the room within a very short time and I was starting to breath so much better. It is so worth the extra money for the HEPA-Pure filter as the air quality in that room cleared quickly and I improved so fast. I have breathing problems and it is worth the extra money.
