Update, I was reading some reviews and I have to say as I have been wearing these shoes for a few years now, I have never had a problem with any shoe strings. They don’t fall apart, they just get worn Out after quite a bit of use. I wear them for a few months before I use them for disc golf then I get about 4 months or so depending. I do buy a size bigger than I normally would wear and also have a wide foot which fits great for me. If you are looking for a good pair of hiking shoes these are great, especially for the cost. Before Covid they did use to have better sale prices. I can’t bring myself to buy any other walking shoe as I compare reviews and for what I know about these. As long as they don’t get crazy priced I probably won’t ever wear another shoe for the course. Ive been wearing these for the last few years for disc golf. If you play less than 3x week they will last a year or better. I do prefer to use foot insert for more comfortable while out there.. If grass is wet your feet will stay dry but if its raining consistently your feet will get wet just like most waterproof shoes. Great for walking on wet fairways as they have great traction.

They've just arrived, I've just put them on and they fit just right. They also look way more expensive than they are, better made than you'd expect for the price. I got the tan version and they look as good as in the listing photo but I'd say the mesh looks even better, more golden, silkier than in the listing. The 'leather' is claimed to be made of leather, even on the tag on the inside of the tongue but it's more likely to be synthetic because the texture is too smooth & even to be from an animal, and if it is waterproof as described, that too argues for synthetic not natural leather. The black parts (real rubber? polyurethane?) are very black and look good against the tan/golden parts, with the interesting touch that the lugs of the sole wrap up onto the edge of the shoe and have a matte surface for grip, and the contrast with the glossy black edge gives the shoe a high level of finish. Very nice. The fabrication is top notch. For all the complicated stitching of the uppers I can't find any areas that are crimped or doubled over, and the top layer has two parallel rows of stitches that are absolutely perfect, as if the sewing machine itself had two parallel needles working similtaneously. It probably did. I have two older pairs of Merrell hikers and I can never keep the laces knotted, and it's so annoying that as much as I paid for them and as long as I've had them, they're still hardly broken in. The laces on these are thicker and softer and I'm hoping that once pulled tight and knotted they will stay done up and I won't have to be checking on them every time they feel a little stretched out by the warmth of my feet. Because I'm not a hiker I'm not hard on my shoes and it's rare that I wear the same pair so frequently that I wear them out. This pair might just be the ones. I feel like today is Shoe Christmas.
