It meets the description exactly.It feels like a jel/paste, that hardens your hair quickly - however it still allows you to run your fingers through your hair without too much resistance. Once it dries, it looks great and holds all day long. It's great if you need to keep the front part of your hair pushed back or pointed upwards. It is very stiff, like gel, except it congeals so quickly that you don't have much time to spread it around. I got a clump in one are of my hair and was unable to spread it around after trying to work it for 2 minutes. The clump just stayed. Overall, I find this clay difficult to work with and too gel-like in the final result. For a matte clay, I much prefer the Rock On Matte Clay by Beyond the Zone.
